Battle for number 1 spot.

The next 75 days will determine the number 1 spot in the rankings.
It's very unlikely for fed to lose his position after Wimb but he can't be sure that he'll be No 1 after US open.
Winb, canada, cincy and US open are max worth 3000 points. That's a lot.
Fed is defending 2850 points. That's also a lot.
If we take away the defending points till the end of US open from the top 3 we have:

Federer 4050 Nadal 4425 Djokovic 3690

That includes Nadal's 250 points from Stuttgart and Djokovic's 15 points from Umag.
My predictions for best and worst perfomances for those 3 are:
(If u desagree for max or min or both of any of the 3 u r welcome to make your adjustments.)

Federer
best worst max min
Wimbledon W S 1000 450
Canada-Cincy W-F or F-W F-Q or S-S 850 450
US open W Q 1000 250

Overall 2850 1150
Ranking Points 6900 5200

Nadal
best worst max min
Wimbledon W Q 1000 250
Canada-Cincy S-S or F-Q Q-R16 or S-R32 475 200
US open S R16 450 150
Stuttgart W W 225 225

I think he will play Stuttgart this year as well and eventually win it.

Overall 2150 825
Ranking Points 6575 5250

Djokovic
best worst max min
Wimbledon F R16 1000 150
Canada-Cincy W-F or F-W S-R16 or Q-Q 850 250
US open W Q 1000 250

Overall 2850 650
Ranking Points 6540 4340

Finally
max min
Federer 6900 5200
Nadal 6575 5250
Djokovic 6540 4340

Looking above i think the most important perfomance for Federer will be probably the USopen's one, for Nadal defenitely Wimbledon, as for Djoko the things are more balanced.
I think anything is possible.( Greece won Euro 2004 after all)
We may see Fed keep his position comfortably.
We may have a new No 1.
It's possible after US open those 3 to be VERY close, inside 300 points.
I also believe that those 650 from masters cup could prove to be very crusial for Fed keeping his spot.

I think wimbledon will be the most important one for both Roger and Rafa. If Roger stops in Q and Rafa wins the title, the ranking points will be Roger 6150 vs Rafa 6055. Although it might be harder for Roger stops before semi than Rafa wins it all, anything could happen. From now on, Roger has to march on with authority on every step. Since, right now, Rafa is still leading more than 1000 pts and he is on fire.

Yes this next couple of months will be crucial to the rankings. Nadal and Djokovic don't have nearly as many points to defend (especially Rafa) as Fed does. Nadal did his part in defending his points during the clay season and now has gained additional points in Queens so if he stays healthy and playing well he will likely catch Fed before the USO.

This young Spanish kid is really starting to impress me. He squawked over and over about the clay season scheduling, and flubbed in one match, but he has come on strong and this year, does not seem to exhibit the exhaustion he displayed in the past few years during the North American hardcourt season.

The past few years, if we remember, he was pretty worn out after Roland Garros. What does he do this year . . . just wins the title on a grass court surface that is much faster than Wimbledon, (which may now be considered a 'fast clay court', especially after two weeks of play.)

We just may see some great play from him this summer/autumn.
