Battle of the Djokodal Coaches...

Legend
Interestingly during that time when Goran was preparing for Wimbledon in Germany, Niki Pilic (his coach at the time) asked him to play against a 14 year old youngster (Djo) from his Academy “I told Goran: ‘Let's play with this little guy for five minutes.’ That's where they met for the first time.”
Djokovic impressed the former world No 2, prompting Ivanisevic to have an extended hit with the youngster. He continued: “They played for a full 25 minutes because Novak concentrated and played fantastically. Goran was a star for him then.”

Also, around the same time Moya was practicing with 14 year old Nadal "I had to make an effort to beat him, and he was just 14 years old,' Moya said.
Two years later, Nadal beat Moya on clay courts. 'I knew that in that moment I had the future in front of me, while mine was already in decline'

It was nice to see Goran finally beat Moya after three failed attempts.

1-3 is a much less embarrassing head-to-head than 0-4

Goran got him where it really mattered...a slam

It's interesting, they have identical career win percentages. But Moya was world #1, made a final at multiple slams and owns Goran in the h2h, so Carlos wins pretty easily.

Yes it's interesting they put up similar numbers, Moya had #1 for 2 or 3 weeks Goran was #2 for a year...but Goran had 2 more slam finals and 2 more overall titles than Moya, which is not a lot.

Interestingly, Goran won his titles (22) on all surfaces (Clay, Grass, Indoor Carpet/HC, Outdoor HC)
Moya won only 4 (Outdoor HC) of his 20 titles outside of Clay.

They're similar tier players!

For dedicated tennis fans, Goran was probably more memorable because of the colorful personality and the absolute outlier serve game.

Sleeveless prime Charlie did decorate many a female teenager's bedroom though.
