Ana Ivanovic finally finds some of the form the brought her the 2008 French Open.
Maria Sharapova, continuing her come back into the top of the women's game with renewed passion to compete.
Both are highly aggressive, and both are hungry. Will Ana cool down or continue upping the heat? Will Sharapova be consistent enough to win?
I think the person who'll win is the one who'll be able to dictate and maintain a controlled aggression. Ivanovic can defend better than Sharapova, but I think Sharapova is more aggressive of the return and is more committed to maintaining her aggression through out the whole match. Key for Sharapova here is to do what she does but stop her tendencies to overplay and try to keep the aggression controlled. Ana needs to commit herself to the aggressive play, the serve will be key as Sharapova loves to attack second serves. Ana also needs to go for the opportunities like she did against Wozniacki and Bartoli, and especially not miss routine shots (watch the Bartoli match). I'd say both of them are in form, but not at they're very best just yet. If they both bring good form, it'll be a hell of a match to watch.
Sharapova leads the H2H 3-2. Their last meeting was the AO 2008, where Sharapova dispatched Ivanovic in straight set although with some struggle.
Ana's two wins came on carpet and clay respectively. Sharapova has won all her matches on hardcourts.
The big thing her however is non of their match against each other have gone to 3 sets. All wins have come in straight sets for both, save for their second meeting where Sharapova retired in the second set, losing the first 6-1, ahead in the second 1-0.
Who will prevail?
