BB&T Atlanta Open thread

Muller choking a bit the past few minutes... was going to call Muller winning the tiebreak and the match easily, but now I'm not so sure.

What a shame for Muller. He had such a great chance to grab his 1st title after racing through that 1st set. But he just couldn't keep his foot on the gas pedal.

Nice win for Rodders though, his 2nd title of the season. Maybe it will give him more confidence going into the bigger tournies? We'll see.

BTW, Roddick has created a new ATP record by winning Atlanta. He now holds more ATP 250 titles (21) than any other player on the tour!

Top 250 title holders:

1. Roddick = 21
2. Federer = 20
2. Hewitt = 20
4. Davydenko = 16
5. Murray = 11
6. Ferrer = 10
6. Almagro = 10

You throw stuff out there and then get mad when someone takes your ridiculous claims to task. The guy's never beaten anyone of worth, yet all seeing jake has him top 30 by when? Don't just say he'll be top 30, I can say I'll be top 30 without putting a time frame on it. A year? 2 years? Anything more than that and it's just pure luck if he actually does make it there. All you have is he has a 'good ground game'. Plenty of guys do, that's why they're pro!

You dare to argue with this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz5RgSY4bMo

I like Roddick. But to be fair, this isn't really worthy of being called a "record". The very top pros consider ATP 250s to be little more than warmups. I mean, really.

Now, most overall singles titles. That is a worthy statistic.

Most ever singles titles - Jimmy Connors - 109
Most singles titles currently on tour - Federer - 75
3rd most singles titles currently on tour - Roddick 32 (with Djokovic breathing down his neck at 30)

I just want to say how much I liked the switch to Atlantic Station for the Tournament. It is definitely something I will try and get a big group out for next year when the tournament comes back. The atmosphere was really great and being able to hit the bars there while the Isner/Sock match was in a rain delay was pretty ideal. I highly recommend it for anyone who didn't get a chance to go this year.

totally agree. Went to the Isner Roddick match and had a blast.
you couldn't pick a better spot in Atlanta for the tournament.

Wut? I count 20 for Roddick, same as Pete, Fed and Hewitt. Also, Muster says hi (if we're speaking of ATP250 equivalents).

Hope you know you aren't embarrassing me here. Nothing could embarrass me as much as that one match, and I kept it up there for months to motivate myself.

This is just wasting your time. I'm going to stick around, and you'll still be jackasses laughing at the supposed sideshow...till the sideshow starts eventually turning serious.

The sad thing is that the videos you posted about a year ago don't look much worse than this. For all your blather about working hard to get better you've made about zero improvement in your game. Good choice of word with sideshow though since that's where the freaks are.

Spot and JackB1 it seems as though the pros really enjoyed the venue as well! Maybe not the heat, though! I drove by it several times and it is a great location.

Rumor going around was that ticket sales were up 30% over last year which is a great sign. Also a great sign us that BB&T Signed up to be the headline sponsor for at least the next 2 years so hopefully this tournament can get some momentum going. I really do think that it will continue to get better as more people give it a shot.
