Becker: Djokovic suffered due to Federer and Nadal absence...

No, he said Murray has become a worthy opponent at the level of Nadal and Fed, and this might inspire Djokovic to return to his previous form in 2017. It's a compliment to Murray, not a dig.

Becker, after Sampras, for me, was probably the greatest serve/volleyer this game has seen. He got under wanker Agassi's skin which is enough for me to call him a legend.

You see, Becker is admitting there is no real competition for Novak and the field is weak without Fedal in prime form.

Over and above that, the excuses keep coming from Team Djokovic--injuries, personal problems, lack of motivation and now Djokovic wasn't interested enough because of no real competition. Gotta love it!

So Djokovic had weak results in the last 6 months because Federer and Nadal weren't playing.

Stop doing crack, Beckerowski. Djokovic had no issues winning a gazillion titles from mid 2014 to mid 2016 when both Federer and Nadal were playing way below their best more often than not but he suddenly has them now. Go eat a sandwich.

Didn't say that. He said lack of Nadal and fed has made Djokovic lose motivation without talking about prime level etc. Nowhere does he imply the field is weak.

I don't think this is excuses. I think it is just the truth, Novak has lost motivation and he even admit it himself after his FO Victory. It is evident on his game.

Right.

Becker will be out of a job soon but the ridiculous number of changing excuses from the Djokovic camp since the Wimbledon loss are hysterical. What's next? Djokovic can no longer play on tennis courts colored blue and that's why he's losing so much? Just shut up already and let the racket do the talking.

Didn't say that. He said lack of Nadal and fed has made Djokovic lose a motivation without talking about prime level etc. Nowhere does he imply the field is weak.

If Federer and Nadal were the only reason Djokovic was motivated that kinda makes it a weak era without them. Cause if this truly was a tough era Djokovic wouldn't have time to make BS excuses, he'd be defending his towers like crazy from new ATG's.

I don't think this is excuses. I think it is just the truth, Novak has lost motivation and he even admit it himself after his FO Victory. It is evident on his game.
Even if so it's not because Federer and Nadal became non-factors. Nadal has been a non-factor since mid 2014 when Djokovic started to enjoy his domination. Federer wasn't a threat in the Slams too, only in BO3.

I know English isn't your first language but the comment from Becker--"he didn't have any opponents anymore" is a pretty good implication that the rest of the field outside of Fedal is weak.

Well he mentioned other stuff that was the reason for loss of motivation if we look at the article. He didn't have any big goal anymore, and he started prioritizing off court stuff. So Becker doesn't just mention nadal and federer

That is horsesh*t! He had the CYGS to go after and Fed's slam count for starters! Do his fans believe everything? There is more going on here than we know. The whole thing doesn't make sense.

I can somewhat agree with that but no Federer and Nadal was definitely not a big factor for his sudden lack of motivation. It's just a dumb excuse.

And yeah if a potential CYGS didn't motivate him then nothing will.

He already won four in a row, same as CYGS. to get all 4 in a calender slam he had to proceed and win 6 slams in a row. The guy is not a machine. He is just a person like me and you. Is it an excuse that his head and body couldn't take it anymore after everything he did? If you saw him at Wimbledon it was clearly evident that it was a guy who was totally burnt out.

He got the NCYGS. After 44 years he was the first player to hold all 4 titles. Not good enough sunshine ?

No, it really isn't. Did you see the big fuss the media made over that accomplishment?

The CYGS is much more valuable and yet your hero wilted like a lettuce leaf left out in the sun when he should have been motivated to win the CYGS and to chase Federer's record. Why the hell would he lose motivation with those goals in possible reach? That's right, he wouldn't. Something doesn't make sense here.

Did you hear Murray's speech ? Did you hear him mentioning it ? The media is the media, and were always anti-Djokovic.

If it wasn't such a big deal, why didn't Federer acheive it ?

Except it's not the same as the CYGS at all. It's a great accomplishment but it doesn't have the perceived value of a CYGS which is the ultimate tennis goal.

He was too busy accumulating the tennis records which matter more like the weeks @ #1 record and slam record?

Djoker will either remotivate or he will get used to losing and eventually be tired of the game. I'm afraid the trajectory is for the latter. For him Murray will always be like his little brother and those post game pats on the shoulder cannot be more gratuitous and fake.

Rafa was injured for most of 2014 and only played half a season effectively. In 2015 he was still lacking in form and injured for most of 2016. Becker is right; there should be an asterisk against Djokovic's RG title because Nadal pulled out due to injury.

How can Murray be Djoko's little brother when Murray is 2 weeks older than him?

His name was attached to all the four grand slam titles at the same time, he won them all consecutively on three different surfaces. No one in the history has done such a thing and the last time that happened was in 69 but Laver won them when 3/4 surfaces were played on grass.

Anyways, my point was that he held all the slams at the same time, to win the last 2 he had to win 6 in a row.

Novak is the only player to have experienced this along with Laver and Budge, so nobody else actually knows how it really feels and if motivation can do anything to keep someone going for so long. Sometimes motivation takes a big hit when your head and body is burnt out, maybe this was the case with Novak. Along with that he also achieved his big career goal to win the FO to complete CGS.

I think he actually said himself aswell that he was tired after all of that. And he didn't just win four in a row, in between that he won masters and the WTFs aswell.

Also worth noting, is that Novak won AO-RG in the same year. Last time that happened was in 91. So he had alot of records to break.

But that's nothing for these drongos. He had without a doubt the greatest 18 months in tennis history, but that is nothing, because he didn't continue, or he hasn't got 17 slams against Bagdhatis, Roddick, Phillipousis.

So, what happened to all the talk about Novak is a man on mission to be the greatest player in tennis history , will not stop until he gets 18 slams and all that , has the Serbian hunger and all that jazz. Just fizzled out after 12 majors - little over half way down the pike ?

Oh I'm sure it's something special for his fans to wet themselves over at his parents' Serbian pizza restaurant! ;)

He didn't say it was a weak era at all.

Everybody hears what they want to hear.

LOL.. Explain to me what this means

"He didn't have any opponents anymore," the German tennis great, who has coached the Serb to six grand slam titles since December 2013, told CNN's World Sport show

So you think it's that easy, do you ?

It's called quality over quantity.

Your guy had to wait 5 years into his career to have a rival. And got beaten ruthlessly once he found him.

And Andy stepped up to fill the void. He didn't say anything against Andy.

Keep on dreaming about a weak era chumps. It doesn't compare to the chumps Federer played against 2003-2007.

Bye bye Fed fan boys (there is a difference bw fanboys and fans)......will be ignoring all you cult members.

By the way, pick up a racket, and go and have a hit. Most of you are 3.0 level players, who try to dress like pros. A laughing stock on the court. A laughing stock on this forum.

Cheerio.

Again, the question is not whether it is easy or tough . What happened to the sparta, warrior , machine euphemism ?

He gets burned out after 2 good years ? Not the mark of a man who folks think was destined to be the best player in the world. I have seen a few others do better.

You better read the article. He said Andy was always fourth.

So Fed's slam record, fighting for no.1 in the WTF final, Fed's 302 weeks at no.1, Fed's 6 WTF titles weren't goals for Djokovic? And some of them were within his grasp too.

I have just mentioned several goals for Novak. How could he lose motivation like that when he still had goals?

Of course he did. He said:

"His time was with Nadal, with Federer. Andy was always the fourth guy."

"So he lost a little bit of his opponents. Murray is showing something he hasn't shown before."

He's saying Murray has stepped up only NOW. What about before that and for the past two years? Who were Djokovic's challengers in that period? Bert and Ernie?

As I said earlier, sometimes you can't do anything about motivation when you are dead burnt.

I made a post earlier what Djokovic did during the one year span. He is the only player in history that experienced what he did along with Laver,so only they know how it feels after that. But Djokovic probably had it even tougher cause he was winning WTFs and masters between all this.

I'm not surprised someone can't take it anymore after that. Hell I'm surprised any human can keep on going for so long without breaking down during the process. It's just so much pressure and staying focused.

LOL. Guy cannot handle the heat but diminishes Fed at every possible opportunity. Good riddance.
