Becker: Djokovic suffered due to Federer and Nadal absence...

Among the personal issues for Novak, He probably wants Jelena to travel with the baby on tour (like Mirka does with Roger). My wild guess is that Jelena has other ideas. Roger is in Novak's head in so many ways--records, money, popularity, happy family, etc...that's why their match ups are the best among the Big 4s.

The big flaw with that reasoning is that Roger and Rafa haven't been competitive with Novak in anything truly important for several years now. Rafa hasn't even managed to win a set off Novak since 2014 RG! Didn't seem to stop Novak going on a tear through 2015 and the first half of 2016!

Rafa perhaps. That was settled at the FO semifinal the year before and unlikely to reemerge. Roger is a different story. Before AO injury this year he still gave Novak his run for money. Shanghai and Cincy were embarrassing losses. Wimbledon was closer than it looks, Roger had something like 20 unconverted break points. Novak won by converting the little few he got.

I thought there was a thread where especially Nole's fans were saying how Novak is a mental giant compared to Roger and also Nadal. Well, it seems that he has managed to pick up no less than 4-5 "mental injuries" in not even a year - the need for love and peace (How can I Imaze people? although that's a long-term injury), lack of motivation because he has no goals left (...), lack of motivation because he has no opponents (poor guy, all he needs to do is show up and win tournaments - who could live with that?), he is not happy on the court (then stop and be a family man, who is forcing you to play?) and personal issues (it must be hard to experience what... literally everyone else experiences). I might have missed some as well!

Let's face it. The guy has produced so many poor excuses for a relatively mediocre 6 month period it would be enough to last most players their whole careers and then some. This can only mean he is losing it big time, and the end is near. On the other hand he just might be shoveling it sky high so his rivals relax while he prepares his last assault on all the goals he still needs to achieve to be in the GOAT discussion, and there are a boat load of them. In any case, it is pathetic, I can't really put it any other way. Either man up and admit what is wrong or that you have no clue what's happening, or just shut up about it already. It almost seems that he needs to produce a new excuse for every defeat.

I've been thinking these exact thoughts for about a month now. It's hard to believe a player can suffer such a decline in 6 months time. I think when he lost Wimbledon to Querry, he realized he couldn't achieve the CYGS. I think he let the rest of the season go and will come back in January with a goal (again) of reaching CYGS. I don't believe he can do it (and I am not a Djokovic fan at all because of his on court antics), but I think this is the case. I am a firm believer that this vegan, gluten free, spiritual healing mess is a cover for something else going on. Just my personal opinion.

Johnny Mac was a legend, no doubt, but I have said on this forum, that I regarded Becker a better overall player than Johnny Mac.
Did you EVER see either of them play? I saw them both play live at Wimbledon a few times and to me only Edberg came near McEnroe in overall talent. Borg never appealed to me really. I waited from McEnroe's retirement for Rafa to come and make me a tennis addict again.

I agree. We need a player who will force him to his best Tennis. Let Federer come back and deliver a demotion job in Dubai. Djokovic will regain his best form probably in few weeks. Actually losing top spot to someone like Murray should be enough to embarrass and eventually motivate player of his potential but he is Djokovic - a very strange man. One thing I am sure he will come strong and regain #1 spot sooner or later. A competitive Federer or rising young player should be enough to inspire him, I guess.

Becker, after Sampras, for me, was probably the greatest serve/volleyer this game has seen. He got under wanker Agassi's skin which is enough for me to call him a legend.

Really? How? I was a Becker fan but I know that Agassi pretty much owned him. Becker had won their first 3 meetings. Agassi won 7 out of last 8. The one win that Becker managed was literally a miracle; down 2-6, 1-4 to come back and win 2-6, 7-6, 6-4, 7-6.
