Becker with Fischer Vacuum Pro 90?

Has Boris ever played with the Vac Pro 90 in the past? Bought one recently where seller mentioned this racquet was played by BB during a tournament in Hong Kong. I highly doubt it, but thought I'd ask.

I believe it was used by another German player who won a Wimbledon title.

Stich.

Absolutely great player; should've won more majors. Tall powerful SV player.

Man, I could use a Vac Pro 90---I've heard so much about it.

There's no way. Boom Boom loved his Puma so much, he bought the mould. No doubt he had offers to swing other frames, probably for big bucks, yet he still played with the Puma even when it was an Estusa (wtf is that anyway).

Has anyone played with one? For me the estusa provantech seems too light and too stiff when compared to the Puma super. Wondering about these head produced frames.

So what was the racket labled as? Puma, Estusa, Head? I'm inspired to restring my Puma BB Super now!

I vaguely remember Boris Becker using the Vacuum Pro mid in one event. Seems like a few ATP pros tried the frame for some time or other near the end of their touring careers, or when playing Masters events... John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Henri Leconte are three others, if I remember correctly.

A great frame, by the way, though as with the original Wilson ProStaff 85, the Vacuum Pro Mids made in Austria play slightly differently than the later ones made in Taiwan. Those made by the Taiwanese OEM did not use the proprietary Vacuum Technic molding process, the machinery for which only existed in the Austrian Fischer facility, which ceased tennis production around 1993. I think the Taiwanese versions play slightly “crisper” in feel and with slightly less elastic feel and ball pocketing, but still very plush by any standard.

I had a video tape of Becker playing with a fisher vacuum pro in the tourney where there are no doubles alley / indoor . Nabisco ? Maybe .
Anyway it was Definetly a fisher vac pro same exact model as stichs .. well at least the paint job was the Same ......

some Germanic whispers say it was from stichs’ stash of frames ..hmmm
Strange memories and Vaguely remember Becker was donning his sweater vest / fila or Lotto ... and his fisher had a stencil on his strings not the fisher 3 triangles design but only the Babolat vs Double lines at the bottom .

Incredible, I never saw BB using anything else than his Adidas as a young dude, then his Puma/Estusa/Head and later his Volkl... and especially a Fischer VP 90! Could you share a pic or even the video? Would be great :) Thanks!

Yep sure, I'm well aware, I was a fan as a teen :)

I saw some pictures of Mac practicing or playing with Head, Yonex or Fischer but I never saw Boris hitting with something else than his Puma. That's why I'm curious .

Maybe… I've never hit with the Estusa or Head BB. Wish I could. The Fischer MS comes close I'm sure  .

Some years ago I wanted to buy a Head World Champ Edition in its wooden box. I absolutely loved it but it was damn too expensive .

YouTube's algorithms sometimes seduce me with tennis content, like with this 1991 match between McEnroe and Connors. While fast-forwarding to see a few points and who won, I noticed that John was playing with the Fischer Vacuum Pro 90. How long was John with Fischer?

No stencil on the strings, must’ve just been experimenting. It’s not blacked out or anything though, I guess by this point he was no longer under contract with Dunlop? Did that Snauwaert thing happen before or after ‘91? Sometimes you’d see their little S logo on Mac’s blacked out 200G.

After two years absence, McEnroe used the 200G at Wimbledon 1988-89, the Prestige at Wimbledon 1990, the blacked-out prototype thing at Wimbledon 1991, and was back to the 200G at Wimbledon 1992. I expect he tried every racket on the market in 1990-91.

Yeah, he used Becker’s Puma, Korda’s Völkl TR-25, Yonex R-22, Prince CTS Lightning 90 (in Japan). What else?

I don’t remember seeing that.

Neither do I, but surely any player with his interest in rackets, and out of contract, would try everything high-end, especially as the wide-bodies were taking over. Like the thinner CTSs Precision and Graduate 90 before the Lightning perhaps. Anyway, this is a Becker thread!
