i never watched tennis in 2003 and 2004, i got into it wen i watched the wimby final 2005 (i pitied arod) and i stumbledon across some of his 03 and 04 matches on the internet............................and damn, the power he had was incredible, anyway i was listening to the british commentators ysterdsay - rod v rafa(goodall and koenig) and they stated that roddick is much better but everyone else has improved more than him. i have to say THAT IS ALOAD OF ********.
roddick in 2003 hit with some spin with his forehand but also flattened out his forehand, but his spin shots penetrated the court back then.
His backhand was pretty good - he had power back then - and he could hit the backhand crosscourt and DTL well, it wasn't as good as his forehand - but it wasn't a weakness
his netplay was solid, i just think he neglected it for a few seasons, he could throw in S&V now and again
his serve was perfect -and was the main reason he got to#1, he also got some help from the courts being pretty fast, which made it more effective
fast around the court - due to him being thin. he could chase balls down and his court coverage was OK.
commentators are wrong - is it any coincidence that only fed beat roddick for a few seasons at wimbledon and recently he lost to tipsarevic.
I AM NOT DELLUSIONAL. RODDICK IS STILL A GREAT PLAYER (i think) BUT HE WAZ SICK BACK IN 03/04
