…Kasatkina, Ostapenko, Vekic, Azarenka, and her kid play soccer on a tennis court in Montreal, but that’s the least interesting part. It is interesting to see the nice but somewhat sterile players lounge (4:50 and 27:00) and gym (9:00) in Montreal, to see all the Russian-speaking players bonding like Kasatkina with now Australian Daria Saville/Gavrilova (5:25 and 32:20), a random encounter with Vondrousova (7:00), Kasatkina’s thoughts on the rain delays (42:15), Kasatkina getting on the court with Rybakina at 11:22 p.m. (44:50) and how miserable she feels afterward while stuck in Washington DC for a connecting flight to Cincinnati. It’s good to see Ostapenko’s off-court personality (10:30) being so cheerful and different from her on-court personality despite or maybe because she and Kasatkina don’t really know each other well. Jelena does snub Kasatkina’s request to play doubles together.
