Nadal played great in the first set, and Dimitrov had no chances. But starting from the second set Nadal was making a lot of errors. I think Dimitrov's pushing skills make it very hard for Nadal to stay focused.

Dimitrov aka The Pusher hit 80 winners to Rafas 45, IIRC

Surprising that Nadal has survived two big hitters on these courts already, admittedly.

Thought he was done after just the first set against Pouille.

When you can't lose, you can't lose. I didn't think he'd actually win the US Open until I saw the 2nd set of the Del Potro semi.
He's just a cut above the rest mentally and in terms of level of play this year

I should also add: Rafa is usually very good on fast courts as long as they are high bouncing. If it's low bounce and flat that's when he has real issues

Don't forget to count all the aces and winners after big serves. On serve Dimitrov attacks, but on return he usually pushes.

I think it's time to acknowledge the serve as a legitimate shot in tennis. All the players use it to set up their next shot, while you act like it doesn't really count.
So bizarre

BTW: Dimitrov won 70% of his 1st serves, Rafa 69%
Dimitrov was +15 (ace-DFs), Rafa +5.

Dimitrov also had two more BPs than Rafa, which indicates an offensive return game.

That bagel he dished out to Delpo was some amazing tennis from Rafa.

Rafa targets the Delpo FH -> Delpo says "I couldn't figure out where he was going" -> Me: LOL

Nadal is working Isner more in the rallies now. Luckily Isner is serving crazy well.

---------------

Well played at net there!

The stadium is about as ugly as Madrid's. When they told the architect about the boxes he took it literally. It looks like a futuristic spaceship penal colony.

This is me when Nadal makes an ace.
