Who will lift the Phoenix trophy?

It's like watching a bully beating up a mentally challenged lanky kid.
Sure, he can fend himself off with a lucky shot but that's about it.

Wow, that was the complete opposite of the tie break in LC. This time it is perfect tennis from Nadal, very clutch. So yes, he is still unbeatable against Isner in real matches. Head to head 7-0.

Isner shook his head just before serving at 4-0 and you knew the inevitable outcome.

Rafa despite only put 59% (Isner 79) of 1st in and Isner went fo everything on return, he still won 82% of 2nd serve points.

remind me about logic again the next time you fall head or heels in love with Dimitrov and expect his phoenix form to win the calendar year slam.
Calling a good result is not head over heels you utter mug. Unlike you fair-weather fans I've been here for 8 years supporting him through thick and thin. So don't come pissing on my parade when he strings a few good results together. Clownshoe

That's 7:0 to Nadal against Isner. Next time Isner sees Nadal anywhere near him in a draw he's not going to be very happy.

i suggest you look up what 'calling a good result' is.

your emotional rants, and consequent grand pronouncements, every time Dimitrov wins a match approaches hysterical.

and you think i'm a fair-weather fan? LOL!

look at who was standing by Nadal (saying he was definitely going to win at least one slam in 2017) when haters said he was down and out before this year!

Emotional rants - LMFAO

Why?

When they’re both playing well it makes for some electrifying tennis

Dimitrov somehow always brings the worst in Nadal. I don't really remember a match between them when Nadal played great from start to the end.

It's the other way round. Nadal brings the best out of everyone because any less than their best is not going to cut it.

Robbie Koening claims their AO semi was the best match of 2017 - I tend to agree

I agree as well. The Federer match was better for drama, but only because it was the final and because it was Federer on the other side.

And before anyone suggests I didn't think the Federer match was better because Federer won, I only found the fifth set really good.

The Dimitrov match was incredible from start to finish. If it had been the final, it would have quite easily been match of the year, regardless of the victor.

"What a point to win it !!!!!

WOW

THE GRIGOLO HAS RISEN"

yea, thats not emotional at all...

Two things stand out for me in this match.

1. Rafa successfully lobbing Isner. Really?? How many times has someone hit a lob winner against Isner?
2. Rafa winning the TB against Isner. Again - how many times has it happened before?

Too good from the Bull!

Lol, just 2 weeks ago Nadal lost to Isner in Laver Cup, with Nadal absolutely struggling to find a way to get into Isner's serve, now we get a bagel TB.
I guess that shows where Laver Cup should be set - As a nice exo. Nice to watch, but just couldn't get into the 'competitive mode'.

But Rafa was still in his wind-down mode from the high of winning USO, plus the Isner match was his fourth match in three days and all three days had been highly emotional. Not surprising his gas tank was a smidge low. He didn't get thumped by Isner at the Laver Cup, it was extremely close and I think the coaching and the cheerleading pumped the normally stolid Isner up just enough to be competitive that day.

2. Before this match, Rafa was 3-2 in TB against Isner, 2 of which were in the Cincy 2013 final :D. The rest 3 were all on clay.

Also YTD TB record before this match:
Isner: 20/34 = 59%
Rafa: 11/16 = 69%

Rafa is also 4-3 in TB against Karlovic, all on hard+carpet and grass. ;)

Another plan of mine came through (well, again, half of): Zverev vs Kyrgios ep4.

Will still be happy if it's Rublev vs Kyrgios though. Zed can take some rest for Shanghai.

Poor Darcis with the neck injury though. Hope it's nothing serious.

It was clearly competitive. The players said they gave their all (well, except Berdych). The emotions were so high.

Of course it can't be compared to the "official" tours on many levels but that doesn't mean it's only an exo and not competitive.

Those LC matches are not true best of 3. And like verno said there're reasons contribute to that loss (or win).

Both results are not surprising at all. Isner was goating at LC. Rafa had never lost to him before this match on tour. Losing the LC match or not, obviously he still knows how to beat him.

Don't think it was "extremely close" but agree with the rest.

O unbiased one, how was the first set of the Nadal-Dimitrov semi better than the first set of the Federer-Nadal final? Your statements imply that clearly.
1st set of the semi: Nadal has a tough start saving double BP, then both cruise on serve except for the one game where Nadal breaks to 30 with good shots. 1st set of the final: no slow start from Nadal this time, both cruise on serve except for one game where Federer breaks to 15 with good shots. The starting game shouldn't be key, since Nadal going 15-40 down vs Dimitrov was heavily helped by his 0-30 start with two unforced errors.

The 2nd and 3rd sets were more interesting in the semi, but Nadal helped by mugging up on serve (think of the mirror double faulting on BP, yikes!), so their quality is overstated. The 4th set was the biggest difference, being the best set of the semi and probably the worst set of the final - no argument here.

Laver cup was indoors.
Maybe had something to do with it too

Hi Ghost. Nice to see you here - I assume you can watch the SaRu match now? :D

Re LC, yep, Bejing is faster, but the ball at LC is lower to my eye. But the main thing is Isner was goating that day, more or less. I had no problem with Rafa losing that match. Isner so deserved it.
