You have some issues.

Because I pointed out the obvious, I have issues? Nadal can still lose this ranking if Cvac picks up points anywhere for the rest of the season. All I was doing was pointing that out before you decided to insult me. Seriously, you are one more rude post away from getting thrown into my garbage can. You've gone off the rails ever since Nadal started winning this year; you've become insufferable.

Sucks that Berdy had to retire. Hopefully he will be ok for Shanghai.

Who'd have thought this time last year that Rafa would end this year as World #1?

Rafa is undoubtedly the greatest of this era, no doubt about it.

Yeah it's obvious to us all that Nadal is going to lose #1 very soon . You've been insufferable for years. Every time Nadal is about to accomplish something you go into full negativity-mode.

This is pathetic. Berdych was not even decent enough to finish a match vs his idol NAdal. He just gives a win to NAdal without any fight now.

This nonsense should not be allowed. Berdych and Nadal should be fined.

Djokovic would have to win this event, another 500 event, Shanghai , Paris and the WTF to end 2013 as #1... not too likely

I don't see why he couldn't do it. I mean he managed to win Beijing, Shanghai and the WTF just last year, so why can't he do it again?

Would actually be extremely interesting if somehow Djokovic managed to turn it around for the rest of the year and YE no. 1 came down to WTF. Highly unlikely, but would be a great way to end the year.

Nadal's playing this year. Pessimistic as you may be, you have to admit the possibility of Nadal beating posing a threat to Djokovic in one of those tournaments at least exists, which tips the odds slightly against Djokovic compared to last year.

Also, I don't think Djokovic is going to play another 500 is he? And Nadal will be playing at the same time, getting points and keeping the lead...

Vamos all hail the world #1.

Will Rafa's knee injury hold up for the final or will he just default the final and give Joko an early xmas present.

Nadal would also have to crash out of a lot of tournaments very early. You get like 200 points just for a RR win at WTF I believe? It's near impossible for that to happen, especially based on his amazing form this HC season

Just gotta beat Novak tomorrow for title # hopefully :D

no love for Dicky?...I tell you if Novak can't get a win tomorrow with these quicker conditions, best of 3 non-major I don't know when he will..he really needs it...got to believe Nadal will try to summon a major final spirit because in a way he could really apply a knockout blow if he wins...imagine Novak would be thinking if he's even the favorite in Melbourne anymore...and the head to head begins to look impossible...you need a reason to believe and to hope for and fight for the prize

at any rate I hope Gasquet can at least show something late in one of these events against one of the top guys...let's face it his career is largely defined by not only not winning these matches but losing them badly, and quickly

bedtime until then, night

On topic, does anyone know what was actually up with Berdych? If he's injured badly, he could be out for WTF and, though I don't want to sound malevolent or anything, I'd rather see Gasquet than Berdych.

I hope you're right, but Cvac is the luckiest SOB since Fed, so I wouldn't doubt it if something like that happened.

Yeah I really hope he can win, because it's a huge stamp of authority.

Just enjoy the ride :)

It is easy to chase but difficult to deal with when you are being chased. Let's see how Rafito responds now that pressure is off Djokovic. For the first time in past 6 months, Omen aligns for Djokovic. :)

Berdych just didn't want to put up any fight vs Nadal and gave up without even trying. Pathetic.

He could do all of that and still not finish #1, right?

Nadal will be at least 3200 points ahead of Djoker for the year-end N1 this Monday.

If Nole wins the two remaining masters and maxes out at the WTF, it only gives him 3500 points.

Nadal is basically mathematically guaranteed the N1 ranking by just showing up the rest of the season and picking up a few hundred points.

He did want to fight, but had a clear back injury for anyone willing to see.

Also, you should not judge others. Thanks.

It is very hard to be a pro tennis player. Birdman has had to endure countless hours of training and preparation to be were he is. It must be devastating for him to have to forfeit due to a back injury after getting to the semis and giving himself a shot at beating Nadal.

Using the word "pathetic" is poor form. Berdych is a great player/person and does not deserve that.

Hey Chico, in 2011 how many times did Berdych retire from matches against Djokovic?

Answer: Twice. And both times in semis too. Dubai and Cincinnati. Guess he figured turn about was fair play to give Rafa a semi too.

And by the way, in 2011, SEVEN players retired in matches against Djokovic. SEVEN freebies for him. Rafa earned all his wins the good old fashioned way - he won them.
