I don't mind arrogance, self-belief, any of that, the more characters this sport has, the better it will be for it.
what i found...i don't know, slightly off-putting, maybe, about shelton's remarks was the seeming obliviousness with regards to his own sport. "hasn't seen novak play?" maybe that was a joke but i wasn't getting sarcasm vibes. just a little weird, honestly. i mean, roger for sure had his moments earlier in his career especially, but like...he knew who rod laver WAS, idolized pete, edberg...shelton talks like he just landed on planet earth half an hour ago with a racket in his hand.
and again, fully willing to acknowledge it was a joke or whatever, but like...truthfully it didn't seem like one.
