The video has the voice-over. Diction and accent are wrong. To "lick" (lizete) is not very much in use for swearing, proper term is "suck" (sisate) ili "smoke" (pusite).
However, he did swaer, more in line with the 3 posts quoted, which differ to the vid. I personaly heard only "smoke my d!ck" when I watched the match.
Tipsy doesn't like Radek "the finger" Stepanek
I must have really ruffled some feathers. I'm not only ridiculous, but utterly ridiculous? Lulz.
I don't take seriously the silly top four wars that many of the members here do. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, and Murray are my favorites, with the rest of the top 25 coming in a close second (with Isner and Gulbis being a few standouts).
All I wanted was an official source, and nobody can produce one. I don't think it's unreasonable, or unlikely that one would exist. Reporters report stuff. Out of all the rote reporting that gets done in sports, don't you think it likely that at least one major organization picks up Djokovic--Novak Djokovic--spewing sexual vulgarities at thousands of people in the crowd, which probably included women and children?
I'm not in denial of anything. I don't speak Serbian. I don't know anyone who does, and I didn't know those three forum threads existed. I also didn't know that we have several members fluent in Serbian--how cool! I am genuinely unaware that there is an official position on what he said.
You guys take these trolling hatreds way too seriously, imo. But, hey: There is a lot of philosophy here, and people are always going to disagree on that stuff. Telling the crowd to suck his poolacki is certainly uncalled for, no matter how amped up you are, but I don't know Serbian, Serbian culture, or anything like that, so I would have no way to put something like that in context.
Berdy did it to be humorous, I don't think there was any ill-will.
You are in some serious denial.
Sorry to say but Berdych is not a nice person at all. Theon Greyjoy indeed.
Kissing Nadals bum and insulting Djokovic on twitter. Not something a smart men would do.
Djokovic spoke yesterday on the court with a dominant straight set victory: 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-2. Not to mention 15-2 H2H, or start with GS and Masters titles, etc,...
Berdych was one in the garage.
Pathetic attempt to rub it in. And people say Djokovic is a bad winner.
I am pretty sure that was meant in jest, and I don't really think anyone took it all that seriously.
That is what is going to happen. However that would not be anything new, since Djokovic pretty much crashes him every time they meet.
Both Nole and Nadal has their own flaws too. Valid opinion can go both way and not a one-sided.
Relax.. It's all good .. Didn't djokovic make fun of Nadal with gun or something? He should be a sport too
Great photo, that guy is longer than he is taller, what a legend.
No point parking the Ferrari in the garage for the doubles. Joko should have backed himself in the doubles. No guts no glory!
He is on a 24 match streak why wreck that for doubles? no chance!
Boy is Djokovic gonna lay a beating on these two next year.
That's not Ron Jeremy?
Nope. That is RJ. He nearly ruined Marios Bros.
A lot of these pros don't seem to respect Djokovic much.
Much like Djokovic ruined celebrations in tennis.
It's absolutely hilarious. This is the 2nd worst case of fanboy denial I have seen on this forum. The 1st being romeo's complete denial of the fact that Federer stated that the only ranking fit for him is number 1. He was presented with numerous links to help him see the light, but he just got angry and started hurling insults.
Wow, I had no idea Berdych was that type of guy.
I dont get it, what did he mean by stay in the garage?
Was this tweeted after their win?
You guys are cracking me up!
I could be persuaded on the issue. I presented my position and asked for a single official source. One. And nobody can produce one: because it doesn't exist.
That's what it looks like.
I didn't know what this thread was about at first.
But, it sure seems like they're not very fond of him.
No, you are cracking me up!
Every normal person (including staunch Djokovic fans who are actually Serbian) know that Djokovic blew up on the Madrid crowd on that day and has moved on. It's all water under the bridge. Unless, of course, you are a fanboy who will forever be in denial. You know, for a guy who joined this forum just this year and complains non-stop about rabid fanboys on this forum, you actually fit in perfectly here.
I'm trying to hear what you're saying. I really am. Maybe to my own detriment, I don't know.
Maybe you don't see many of my posts, but I've worked hard to be a productive member here, and the fanboyism (GOAT Trolling, I call it) is something that strikes me as odd. I typically ask for--or try to provide a citation--when a claim of import is made, regardless of the topic. In this case, it happens to be about a famous tennis player, of which I'm a fan: Djokovic. But I'm a fan of every top 25 tennis player. Being a fan is not mutually exclusive, even when there is a rivaly, imho. Heck ... Gulbis is 27, right? I'm his fan as well (24, perhaps?).
Part of my brand is responsible authorship, and frankly, I see way too much BS on forums, social media, self-published articles, and fringe / niche site article, because people don't source or attribute their work (or misinterpret it).
I'm not denying that we have Serb's here who support your claim, or the claim of the video. I'm not even denying he said those things. He may have. I'm asking for an official source. It is somewhat unusual, in my opinion, to experience such blowback for such a basic, barebones request, however; I've seen it before. It usually occurs when there is no official source.
So, seriously: Do you believe I'm being unreasonable about this topic?
Yes, you are. Murray has been swearing loudly for years and anyone with functioning ears has been able to pick up on this. There are several (hilarious) videos of him doing this. Fortunately, I have never come across anyone idiotic enough to deny that Murray does this and would only be convinced if an official source provided them with a full transcript of Murray's comments. You are not the one who is receiving a "blowback" for this and no one really cares about your request for an official source either. Keep in mind that it was you who criticized Forehand of Doom for "trolling" when he posted that link simply because you choose to stick your head in the sand about this entire issue. There is no official source that reports that Roddick yelled "F YOU!" at the umpire at Indian Wells in 2006; the only thing I can find is people discussing it on tennis message boards in 2006. You know why that is? Because only tennis fans remember minor details like this.
What do you mean an Official Source though? A communique from the Spanish Ministry of Culture congratulating Djokovic?
The insults were captured in Spanish TV, and I doubt many people in Spain speak Serbian except Serbian expatriates, so it wasn't commented on during the broadcasting. Isn't there people here who speak Serbian? Won't you take their word for it?
Forehand of Doom, that's such hyperbole. I told you what I consider an official source: just a good ol' fashioned news article from a respectable news agency. But, as Sid points out, that may not exist in the case of the Serb.
Sid, you make some good points. I get the feeling like you aren't really being genuine with me--like, you've already made up your mind that I'm some fanboy or something--but I will continue to engage anyway. But I do take issue with you insinuating that I'm being idiotic about this. I speak English, so I can hear and understand it for myself when Murray does something like that. I don't speak Serbian, so I have to take someone's word for what he's saying; hence my request for a citation.
Yes, everyone knows Andy Murray does those things. And in case you don't speak English, you can read about them in official news sources, like the ones I posted below. He's taken major heat, numerous times, for his outbursts.
BBC apologises for Murray's F-word rant as he loses his rag in Wimbledon quarter-final
Andy Murray's Wimbledon swearing: BBC returns Daily Mail's volley
The list goes on and on ...
As far as the 2006 incident is concerned, with Roddick, I can't seem to find anything about it (can't even find the youtube video!). I found this article from the Guardian (2006), but it's once again about Andy Murray screaming, and swearing, and getting major heat for it.
Perhaps I was wrong in assuming that the news media would take issue with Djokovic telling a crowd that includes women and children to lick his d**k. I genuinely expected that this would be covered. And the fact that it wasn't covered made me dubious about the claims.
So we have plenty of precedent of major news sources covering top men's players losing their cool and swearing at a public match. Most of the incidents appear to be concerned with Andy Murray. But, we also have precedent where the news media didn't report a blatant outburst (Andy Roddick).
People make up so much shizzle online--constantly--that you'll have to excuse this one incident where I didn't blindly believe youtube comments and message boards about an issue. Even in the absence of any official source, but in the light of numerous Serbian speaking members on this forum, I will have to admit that it appears like I was wrong about this, and Djokovic did say some really nasty things in that moment.
Why don't you watch it by yourself? Hire a Serbian translator if you need to I guess, or take the word of the Serbian users that commented on the video.
The crowd were being really antagonistic against Djokovic, but is saying that justified?
I apologize. That was pretty rude on my part.
Yes, but you actually think there is an official source that reports every single obscenity that Murray has uttered on court? Nope. Djokovic has a temper and anyone who has watched him since he started making strides on tour has picked up on this. As a matter of fact, this isn't the first time he has blown up on the crowd...(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4c95Oqz_tg), once again the translation is not pretty, but lets not go there. The point is that Djokovic swears a lot and because he swears in Serbian he doesn't face any penalties. Murray and Roddick get warnings the moment they open their mouths.
Djokovic is a decent guy. He said that in the heat of the moment and probably didn't mean it literally.
What is there to cover? Whenever Roddick sweared loudly he used to get nailed by a code violation instantly. When the official articles came out, the "F YOU!" incident was probably covered by simply mentioning that Roddick got frustrated in the article.
You made it seem like we are all a bunch of suckers who believe things without an official source.I made sure I posted quotes from some long-time Serbian members on this forum. Zagor, one of the most liked and reasonable posters on this forum, even confirmed that Djokovic blew a fuse during the match. I see no reason for them to lie to us about some thing like this.Do you think they are trying to slander their countryman's name by putting words in his mouth? Why would they do that?
Yes it was. The bunch of losers deserved it. I was pretty happy when he responded like that. I hope that if crowd remains obnoxious next year at Madrid, he does the same again. Well deserved for crowd. Just because they have Rafa, it does not mean that they disrespect others.
Good that we have players who keep aside their PR sometimes and reply to 14 year old morons. I don't even feel 1% regret for what he did and I am proud of his actions in the heat of the moment.
It looks like we've come to an understanding. I'm happy about that.
I was reacting more in principle. It has been a practice of mine, in online arguments and debates, to--generally speaking--not put too much credit behind comments, message boards, youtube videos by no-names, etc ... and things like that. Surely you see the value in this type of practice. Otherwise, you'd have people arguing that shapeshifting lizard-men have seized control of the United States government ... oh wait ...
