Can't believe the EPA has banned Berkey from selling it's water filter elements.
Anyone found a good alternate source for purchasing replacement filter elements?

The stuff the filters remove may be hazardous. Therefore, according to EPA, they must be registered with them in order to sell and dispose of the products. It's like those asbestos removal firms, which have to be registered and licensed to do the removal and dispose of the stuff afterwards.

So, by the EPA's logic, it is better for people to drink the potentially toxic stuff?

EPA is not responsible for removing stuff from water. Water provider is. So on that basis, EPA is saying yes if you can’t find a source of clean water. TBH EPA or county health department would probably prevent the sale of contaminated water.
