Berrettini Asks Federer How Much He Owes For Wimbledon Lesson

A study in fortitude and courage from top 20 player Matteo Berrettini:

“I said, 'Thanks for the tennis lesson, how much do I owe you?’”

“I didn't play my best match...I was kind of tight” Berrettini said. "...when he started to play like this, for me, it was really tough to do anything."

“I think it's going to be really helpful for my career.”

It took Federer 17 minutes to win the opening set. “I wasn't feeling so good about my strokes, my serve, my forehand, backhand, everything. I wasn't feeling so good...I expected to be tight” Berrettini said. “I was saying to myself that it was normal"

I wonder if the All-England Club is going to fine him for loosing so fast like they did Tomic. After all Tomic did win more games during his defeat that Berrettini did.

What do we want him to do, cry about it? He got his butt kicked. Take it in stride, laugh it off, and keep working hard. Onward and upward.

As was said many years ago, even in the 1940s and 1950s, "Pain is a Teacher", only if you have the capability to learn something from a loss. A
painful loss can be your best teacher or you might say friend.

An attempt of humor from the Italian but of course the anti-Fed crusade will come out in great numbers to falsely equate it with other incidents. Fed has the most fans and rabid haters too.

It's cute that a few people on this massively Fed-nuthugging excuse for a forum still pretend there's an 'anti-Fed crusade'

No doubt they are also members of the illuminati and lizard people as well.

Fed haters can't handle this because do you think Berrettini would ask Djoko or Nadal how much he would owe??? :-D
Maybe. He idolised Fed as a child, but still the other 2 are kind of living legends in their own. I still think this thread is absolutely pointless.

The world is a Fed nuthugging excuse then. One would think a decade of being the most popular tennis player would maybe help fools like you understand and prevent b1tching about it continuously.

Guy tries to cover up a painful loss with humour - good on him, this is what people do in real life, sometimes it helps.

Presumably Fed didn't pay him to say this so no idea why he's getting stick. Does he now get the blame for things he didn't say and presumably has no control over?

It's an interesting case study in contrasts to see how understanding certain posters are in the face of such a non match and subsequent comments from Berrettini compared with their reactions when certain other players turn in disappointing efforts and also joke about it ('Bendych' anyone?).

I've been mostly lurking on here for years and have seen the double standards in action but let anyone point it out and it's time for dour lectures about 'having a sense of humor' and 'don't you understand how great Roger is?'

These Nextgens play too much in their shell. When do I get a Boris Becker or Rafa Nadal type Nextgen winning at 18-19 years of age? When? You might as well carry an autograph book.

We already talked about it. Hilarious quote from a self-aware guy, what's not to like?

What's not to like about a guy who doesn't even show up for his big match, loses a set in 17 minutes and jokes about wanting to take lessons afterwards from his hero?

I think he's practically a role model for not being bothered by his abysmal performance and Federer should invite him out to Dubai again as a reward for his services.

We need more indifference in competitive sports.

It's not trolling if it's backed up by facts

Fed fans are a sensitive bunch though

You talk about Fed fans being sensitive when you're one of the most oversensitive, insecure posters on here. Just a couple posts above you were whining how its "Talk Federer Warehouse". Cry me a river.
