I've ONLY EVER bought either Nike or Adidas when it comes to tennis shoes, and this has been so since I first started playing tennis, and I first bought TENNIS shoes, before this, I used to play with whatever.

Out of both of these brands, I find Nike is the most comfortable, cozier, lighter and faster, BUT, playing on hard courts, I EAT them up very very fast. The last Nike shoe I bought were some Zoom Cage, about 8 yrs ago, which were great. I have been a fan of Adidas Barricade since the 2's, and almost only used them since they came up (I think the 'cades II are my favorite, and I've used them all, practically), and just had that hiccup with the Zoom Cages. My issue with Nike is price/durability, thats why Im an Adidas guy basically.

But what about the other brandas? I'm really liking the Asics models, and they seem like really comfortable fast light shoes, whats your take, you users?

New Balance is another brand that suits my eye...

Other brands that you would recommend to try?

Some Head shoes that I have played in have been a good value in terms of price, comfort, and durability. I have also found Asics shoes to be quite comfortable. Also throw in an honorable mention for some prince shoes.

I agree that Nike and Adidas make some good tennis shoes.

Asics has won over many tennis players with their Gel Resoultion and Speed Lines. Excellent shoes.

The Barricade 7 Clay court is a great shoe, but wish Asics offered more clay court shoes in the US other than their 95% mostly white 1970's offerings.

Sorry but a white clay court tennis shoe is not well thought out by Asics. Playing on Har-Tru or red clay makes a white shoe dirty quickly.

I always hear Asics make pretty good tennis shoes.

Also, you m ight want to try Ubersonic 2s. I've played in both Vapors and Barricades and I think they are a nice mix of a cheaper price/ durability while still being more comfortable than Barricades.

Mizuno is really good hard to find tho, Asics for me are the best "third" brand. Best lineup of shoes by type and price point, and kudos for apparel that ties into them....

I was using Barricades for a very long time, but I tried a pair of Asics Gel Resolutions and was amazed how great they were.

Asics makes good shoes that's why they are still in tennis business.
Unfortunately Asics spends more and more money for endorsements nowadays.
Hope asics won't be ended up like K-SWiss.

I'm a die-hard Barricade man

Once tried Vapors and found they're like paper

Lotto is excellent - the Raptor Ultras fit like a glove, feel like a well-cushioned running shoe, are light and feel very 'quick'. I just don't get the impression that they're made for grinding on hard courts.

I'm not a toe-dragger, but an aggressive mover (and ex-sprinter) - basically, if I wear anything but Barricades I always find myself checking to see what bits have shredded or fallen off after a tough session!

The Nike zoom vapor 9.5 are as good as it gets when it comes to comfy lightweight low durability shoe. The barricades aren't as light but are light enough and offer supreme stability and durability. Vapors are more comfortable though. Zoom cages are a kind of in between shoe but I don't recommend them. To me they end up being only mediocre at everything and good at nothing. Adidas ubersonic are a more supportive vapor that sacrifices some speed but hardly noticeable for me.

Asics shoes both the gel resolution and the gel solution speed are excellent with the gel resolution having excellent durability while maintaining more speed than the barricade but are less stable. The gel solution speed is a less extreme version of the vapor when it comes to durability, they won't fall apart instantly, and is more worth it in my opinion becuase the lightweight feel is the same and I can sacrifice a little of the comfort of the vapor for it.

Thoughts on new balance or other brands. Definitely try them but you'll almost always find what you need from adidas Nike or Asics. Yonnex shoes get very hot and aren't so good on comfort at all. New balance is just a slightly less good version of adidas to me but they shouldn't be forgotten by any means.

Tl;dr you can't ever have it all. Speed comfort durability and stability. I find that it's often worth giving up the comfort of Nike's shoes for the unparalleled durability of the barricades. Asics are definitely worth trying. I encourage trying everything if you can, but if you can't, you likely don't have to search past adidas Asics and Nike to find what you're looking for

I think most people will say that Asics is one of the Top 3 along w/ Nike & Adidas. For another brand, I really like Babolat, especially the Jet & SFX brand. The Jets are arguably the fastest, lightest shes on the market but has durability issues similar to the Nike Vapor 9.5's. The SFX2's are just great overall shoes, nice cushioning, stability & supportive.

Another great shoe to take a look at is the Wilson Rush Pro 2/2.5's. I have the 2's & they are very good overall tennis shoes.

Kind've odd that you like Cage's along w/ Barricades as one line runs wide & the other is know to be narrow.

I love my T-22 & T-22 lite shoes for the last few years, and I'm yet to find anything better. I wear orthotics for years (flat feet suck!), and these shoes are the only ones I've been able to try that work well because they have a removable insole and they aren't super narrow at the arch allowing the shoe to maintain its original form.

I've tried Nike (to narrow) and they don't always have a removable insole, so it distorts the shoe.

I've been curious about trying the New Balance tennis shoes, but I could by 2 to 3 pairs of the T-22s for the same price.

Hope that's helpful.

One of the nice things about Nike and Adidas is they roll out so many colors that there's always a sale. Whereas some of the non-headline brands, it seems like they up being kind of pricey--for example the New Balance 1296 is $120. Whereas there's 5 different Vapors for $105.

I've owned 2 pairs of Nikes (Breathe 2k10 and Court Ballistics) and both were complete crap. Asics Gel Res and Adidas Barricades for me.

I also want to try FF court but still they haven't released it in a proper black combo. Instead they released it in a new navy one which is like going to a carnival party and an all light grey which is difficult to combo it with socks and clothes....a dark grey would be more ideal like the speeds. Pfffff asics. Best tennis shoes but terrible colors.....even yonex has better PJ's.

Gobble up the navy blue version that has been out for about a year now as they tend to go with just about everything and maybe more suitable for your taste.

I started with the Gel Res 5s, moved to the 6s, and just ordered my 2nd pair of 7s:

IMO, they've gotten better with each revision.

My Asics GSS2, clay version are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I also went to one of those running stores where they film you on a treadmill. The Asics running shoes also worked and felt best, to me.

Asics and Adidas are probably the best two tennis shoe brands. IMO, Nike tennis shoes are a bit overrated. I have worn the Asics Gel Resolution 5's and 6's as well as the Gel Game 5.

Adidas are probably the most durable and Asics are probably the most comfortable with decent durability. In general, Nike tennis shoes aren't that durable at all, but they're probably the best in the aesthetics/style department.

K-Swiss for comfort and durability.
Wilson for style and trend setting colors!
I just tried K-Swiss and the ones I bought made my knees hurt after I wore them. I was sadly di$$appointed. Now I have another pair of tennis shoes that felt good while I walked around the house yet on the court proved useless.

I hear so much about the Asics', yet each version people either complain about them or love them. All in all why can't a shoe companies leave some of their versions alone if so many people really like them? They always have to continually tinker with them and make the worse ( say more cheaply yet charge us more $$).

It's the same thing with rackets that they keep tinkering with. But I just bought my 3rd pair of Asics Gel Res 6 as these shoes I found to be absolutely perfect (for me at least) and have never found any other shoe I could say that about. I was also concerned that the Res 7 would be too narrow in the toe box and lacked ventilation.

Nike is the worst when it comes to charging more for less quality though.

The OP should change the thread title to "Besides ASICS and Adidas which brand makes the best shoes"

Only problem is you cannot buy these anywhere.

You can in EU. Can you order them form TWE? They worth it...
I had some problems with my feet and since I use Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 2 thing got much better with my feet.
I have played in Yonex SHT, Prince T22, Nike Cage 2 and Asics GR Speed and Mizuno is one step ahead of them.

VERY hard to find it seems. I found them a few years ago but now I have no idea where to get them in my shoe size. I wish I did. They were great shoes.
If you look at TennisWarehouse Europe they have Mizuno tennis shoes.

I've been wearing Gel Resolutions since the 4, but the with the 7 there's just too much rubber and I don't think it's going to be as well ventilated as I want in a shoe anymore. So I may go 2017 Barricade next, or maybe NB1296 or Kswiss Knitshots.

I've certainly liked Kswiss and NB in the past. Wilson too.
