Best 4G type and gague

I’m looking to order a reel of 4G and without testing every type of 4G. I’m a high level high school player and I would use this in a hybrid with alu power 16l. I string for myself. I use an RF97 signature and have good hands and a not too spinny ball. Is it worth messing around with 4G rough/soft or trying a thinner gague.

I would NOT recommend this at all. I tried ALU Rough mains and 4G 16L crosses in a Six.One Team 18x20, worst string combination I've tried to date. You might think you get the crispness of ALU and playability of 4G, but no, it's just straight garbo. Feels like you're hitting with a sheet of Aluminum or something. Brittle, stiff, no "Luxilon dip" spin, or control.

Go with a full bed of 4G Soft or ALU Soft. Don't hybrid.

I use it in the 16L, but you can try the 1.30 if there is one.

better options out there than luxilon. VCT 16g mains is quite good, I like to pair it with thin round slick cross like SPPP 17L 1.18 /revolve 17g. Maybe kirschbaum max power cross if you enjoy low power control strings. VCT is quite soft for a poly so prestretch is necessary along with stringing it a few lbs tighter than normal. This is my pseudo gut/poly setup

Ok, you're a high school player, and at the time, I was 50 yrs old, so take this with a grain of salt, but...

I tried 4G Rough once...once (sorry, old joke. Go watch 'Johnny Dangerously' for explanation. But I digress...). After 2 sets of 4.5/5.0 level doubles, my arm was toast. I could barely put my seat belt on, let alone grip a tennis racquet. Two months later, I got a Cortisone shot. Six months later, I was still having issues w/ my backhand volley as I was afraid it was going to hurt my arm.

I also feel the need to qualify this by saying prior to the 4G Rough experiment, never have I experienced a twinge of tennis elbow, and I've played w/ racquets that had an RDC of 68 & 70 (Hyper Pro Staff & Pure Control 'Swirly'), and were strung w/ Kevlar/gut in the upper 60s. The 4G Rough was put in my normal racket at the time (Fischer Pro No 1 that was 3 years old), and strung ~ 48lbs.

Bottom line: Don't. Just...don't.

I will sum it up..not being so nice! 4g is overrated, overpriced and is not a very good string unless your intention is to use it as a cross to blunt the power of natty but....other than that..it is pretty much useless and it might hurt your arm. It blows chunks!!!..? I was channeling ..Joly!
