Best backhand in the planet!

oh please, nalby's BH is anyday better than murray's ... players FEAR going to nalby's BH, I haven't seen anyone saying they fear murray's BH !

oh and you can watch their match in late 2008 indoors where an in-form murray go totally outplayed by nalby with nalby winning more than half the BH exchanges

Agreed.

Murray's BH was abused by Kohli today à la Federer against Nadal. Although it's obvious Murray's in a slump right now, it was Kohl's strategy from the start of the match and it worked pretty well...

I know you're intelligent enough if not I wouldn't have responded more than once. But I still don't think you're looking at it from the angle that I'm talking about. (by the way I didn't mean the intelligent thing as a veiled insult.) But one of the things that makes me think you aren't looking at it how I am sayings is things like "He's good, well, yeah...a lot of pros who were..". It's understood, yeah I KNOW THAT. But that really is so much understood from the angle that I'm talking about, even mentioning it kinda takes you out of it.

Forgive me if you don't know what the hell I'm talking about because it's been a problem for me since I was a kid to explain the point of view that I have on things(by that I don't mean opinion, I think the concept of opinions is vastly misused and misunderstood these days) or ideas in general sometimes.

Ok I didn't know that intelligent thing wasn't meant to be a veiled insult. I'll take back what I said too then.

And... ok I don't know, but it just looks like we'll have to agree to disagree (which very rarely happens on these boards. Most people just go shouting their heads off). The things is, I can see he's good, I can see his BH especially is exceptionally good, but I still don't see how it's as good as certain people make it out to be. I know he's great to watch, I'm not denying that, because I like watching him play too. The only thing is, I don't see why some people say he's 'one of the best ever' when to me, he clearly isn't. That isn't diminishing anything from his ability to play beautiful, fluid tennis. I just think he's not that... uber.

Settled then, agree to disagree. I'll leave you with something. The reason that it's not easy to see his greatness is that he doesn't really want to show it. His desire, he makes it evident, is not to be regarded as the greatest. My guess is becuase of the same thing that many famous people regard as the worst part of being famous is, the fame. I think he's developed a way to be in control of his full talent, both mental and physical, and to use whenever it suits him, not the rankings, or his rivals, or his fans. Him. In his life. I could be wrong about this, but I am almost certain.

In their Paris match (where Murray was heavy favorite) he got outplayed in backhand rallys.
Murray does have the better slice but I'd give Nalbandian the slight edge in topspin shots.

That was just one match though where Murray played really bad tennis. Overrall Murray's backhand is a lot more versatile than Nalbandian. Not just the slice, his cross court and done the line backhands are sheer class and much better than Nalbandian.

I'd say it the opposite. Nalby's bankhand completely outshines Murray's in almost everyshot.

Nalby hits it better down the line,
more penetrating cross court,
more angle cross court,
down the line slice,
cross court slice,
backhand volley,
drop volley.

Only thing Murray is better at is more consistent backhand rallys and only cross court (out pushing the opponent).

Other than Murray's BH dtl, his backhand shot is a joke, the way he just takes a step forward under the ball to hit it cross court has to be the most unaesthetic things to ever watch in his game.

laughable, murray was playing pretty well there. Just got throughly outclassed by nalby ...

The only thing murray does better with his BH is the slice .. nalby's DTL and CC BH both are clearly better than murray's ...

One thing that separates Nalby from the pack is his ability to take the ball quite early. Taking the ball on the rise gives him opportunities to rush his opponent and force errors. Even the greatest players can be disrupted by this strategy.
