My fav are the Wilson US Open balls, but any fresh ball will due, as I never play with a ball twice.

Don't let price be your criteria.

There is a big difference between the cheapo balls and a quality ball like the Dunlop Grand Prix. Though usually selling about $.75 above cheapo balls, there are places online where Dunlop Grand Prix can be had for $1.99 a can, same price as those crappy balls you buy at Sports Authority or Wal-Mart. A quality ball that actually has some fuzz that stays on the ball enhances both rallies and feel off the strings. Cheapo balls just fly off the stings.

The Slazengers used at Wimbledon are awesome, leagues above any ball played here in the US. They are heavier, fluffier, and meatier.

THE BALL MATTERS!

Dunlop GrandPrix XD by far !
After playing 6 times per week (at least 2 hours per day) riping the ball, it still has 95% of the original presure. The only thing is the ball are getting bald at that point.

The new Gamma Pro Tour extra duty balls...but only if you like a fast ball...they are the most durable balls on the market right now in terms of pressure and felt. Better even than the vaunted Dunlop Grand Prix XD. But they play FAST.

Haha, WalMart has Dunlop! Both Grand Prix and the McEnroe 4 pak! Even Walmart is in the know!

Dunlop Grand Prix FTW!

And plus, they look better later at night because of their max-glow - and they retain their bounce better and longer than any other ball I have tried.

Slazenger Wimbledon Ultra Vis are very nice tennis balls too, great bounce and pressure.

Same here for me.

I find the Wilson balls don't have as much bounce and go flatter/lose their 'fluff' more easily on our coarse hardcourts over here. Penn and Dunlop just seem to be quite poor relatively.

When I played in Canada, every man and his dog loved Wilson, so I got used to them. Now I'm back in England and prefer Slaz Ultra Vis, but have to play matches with Wilson and the balls tend drop sooner and shorter with less kick.

But it's each unto their own!

The Dunlop Grand Prix's have always held up better for me on hard courts than any other ball.

considering the tour really only uses Wilson US Open... i like it the best?

Dunlop Grand Prix

Also while Penn and Wilson sell more in American than Dunlop, Dunlop/Slazenger has a 40% market share worldwide. Up until this year Dunlop/Slazenger had the official ball for the Australian, French and Wimbledon. Wilson picked up the Australian this year but Dunlop/Slaz still have the French and Wimbledon.

1st-Dunlop GP
2nd-Wilson U.S Open

Both fairly equal for one time use but Dunlop lasts much longer IMO (good for serving practice after game use)

Are the Dunlop McEnroe 4 packs sold at Walmart any good compared to Wilson U.S Open XD, and Dunlop Grand Prix?

I don't find the feel of the Grand Prix's that well. Although they do last longer than the Wilson US Opens that I usually play with.
