best budget syn-gut?

Currently have green Sensation 16g in my Phantom at 55lbs and its been a surprise for staying in place. Mediocre for control and spin but very comfy.

The 107G has a very open string bed. No need for 17g string. Too little control and rapid loss of tension. I get lots of spin with 16g Sensation. Could easily play with 15g string in that frame.

I'm not playing "gotcha", but I made the 17g suggestion based on your description earlier of what you think about Sensation.

Tell me if I'm wrong, then you're looking for less power and more control than the Sensation? And even better if it has a longer playability duration? Yet still comfortable?

If so, the Multifeel/TSGA is the best suggestion I can give. Natural Multifeel's playability duration, string bed consistency, and control far outweigh Sensation or Velocity. Reviews by others say the black coating comes off pretty easily, but if it's similar to the pink in playability, it's doesn't matter. It will still play well.

For more control, playability duration, and durability, put TSGA in the mains. If fraying strings don't appeal to you aesthetically, go with Velocity or maybe the green Sensation in the crosses. With any of these combinations, you're at about $7.50 per string bed, and I'd expect you would you could play it for a month or more.

In terms of power, TSGA is closer to a poly than a syn gut so I'd recommend choosing a tension around what one would string a poly at. It won't be uncomfortable like a poly at a high tension, but it won't have any power.

I'd say I'm looking for something a little more controlled. While sensation is a mediocre spin string, I don't need more spin in my string. I'm getting enough.
And after 14 hrs it is starting to lose all its tension and strings are all over the place. I'm not unhappy with Sensation but it's not the best string I've ever used.
I think I've enjoyed PSGD and GOSM as much.

I've played with multi feel in pink (my watermelon CV Blade) and its a good string. Will consider the black.

TNT2 mains, Duraflex crosses. I don't claim this to be a good setup, just that I liked it and it was amusingly louder than I expected on contact.

Disclaimer: I'm a talentless weekend hacker and my string experiments are usually awful.

I checked my notes and it was TNT2 mains, OGSM Super crosses. I like syn gut setups that go POP on contact and this one did. Your mileage may vary.

I do have a racquet strung with full bed Duraflex. It's not as crisp, but it feels slightly lower powered and I had less issues with balls sailing long.

Get some TOURNA Quasi-Gut Armor 16 and use it where you tried Sensation. Maybe add 0.5 kg on tension.

I like Gamma Synthetic Gut 16 it does a lot of what any good round poly can do. At $3.50 a set it’s a no brainer. I’ve played it as a full bed and lately as a main in a syn gut/poly hybrid.

They also make a Gamma Synthetic Gut with Wearguard $3.80. I honestly couldn’t feel any difference between the two.

Gosen OGSM in black seems to be everyone's consensus in the firmer, slick syngut department. I don't think anything I've used as a cross beats it in that role.

Pro's Pro SG is the stiffest SG I've used. In a full bed, it feels like hitting with a paddle. Great cross string to a poly main in equal or thicker gauge.

With poly/sg hybrids, I've always strung SG tighter +4 or +3 lbs. Currently at 50/54 lbs with HLT mains and it plays fairly well. I could proably drop cross tension to 53 and still feel confident playing with it. Also tried 47/50 previously and found it too launchy and powerful.
