So who is the best Hard Court player of 2010?

Grand Slams
---------------

Nadal - US Open

Federer - Australian Open.

Head to Head on Hard Court for 2010
-------------------------------------------
They haven't met each other on Hard Court for nearly 2 years (they have only met on Clay since Australian Open of 2009).

Masters 1000 Tournaments wins and Finalist placings
------------------------------------------------------------
Federer has won Cincinatti and has been finalist in Toronto and Shanghai.

Nadal has been in no finals and has no titles.

Conclusion
-------------

I guess that means Federer is the best hard court player of the year (so far anyway).

It's Fed.

1 slam + 1 slam semi + 1 MS + 2 MS Finals > 1 slam and a slam QF.

Murray probably has more ranking points from mandatory hardcourt events than Rafa does.

Yep, Federer, 1 slam + 1 masters>1 slam. Damn I wish they had a couple of masters on grass, I hate hard courts.

I think you are right but I think it was a closer run thing that 2010 since Federer was also the finalist at the US Open (he was only 2 points away from winning that tournament). But yes, Nadal was clearer the better Hard Court player that year.

Was he? He didn't seem to be when getting thrashed by Del Potro, Cilic, Djokovic, Davydenko and Soderling.

When I read this I actually laughed really hard omg....as much as this is funny its not true, Federer played like garbage through the rest of the clay season. And as for Nadal's 2009 hardtop season, he played bad...correction he played terrible outside 3 tournaments the entire year (which is rather lack luster)....so idk what this answers just my thoughts

Federer was the turtle during the 2009 clay court season, Nadal the rabbit. Now in 2010 nadal is still the rabbit and federer is a kumquat. :)

Yeah I'm really glad that Federer won Roland Garros but he wasn't the best clay court player of the season. He was the smartest about planning his season so he would peak at Paris, which he more or less did. Nadal and Djokovic planned their season like retards which is sad because it could have made for a better Slam.

haha couldn't have said it better myself. although their retardation made for a great Madrid semi (i don't care how much time wasting there was)

The Madrid match was awesome and though I do care about time wasting that's another story. It was a great performance by both, but when I say they were both stupid about their scheduling the Madrid match doesn't quite factor in. While Federer only played the Masters, Nadal played the biggest tournament in the world (Barcelona) and Djokovic played his hometown event the week before Madrid.

Now I understand that these events are important to them, but they could have skipped a Masters event and paid the penalty. At the least they could have skipped Monte Carlo which was already non-mandatory.

Djokovic is the best hardcourt player but hasn't really showed the results. Federer got lucky at the AO this year. The draw he had was just hiliarious.
USO 2010 same story. Nadal was only playing against dead tired opponents while Djokovic was playing the real final against Federer.

At least Federer played 3 consecutive top 10 opponents at the Australian Open. I feel like he will never beat 3 consecutive top 10 opponents in a big tournament ever again, sadly. It would take some fluke guy somewhere like a Youzhny or a Lu.

And oh yeah, Nadal's USO draw was pretty easy before the final. Djokovic played well in the final though...better than I expected.

According to the ******** experts over here, 99% of draws are funny. I think people need to have their funny bones examined.

Please sir, would you like to explain me why these so called cake-draws were not easy?

Federer's AO 2010 draw:
Tsonga Semi-Finalist
Murray Finalist

Nadals draw: USO 2010
QF: verdasco (the puppet) who played 5 sets previous round.
SF: Youznhy HAHAHA!!! played 5 sets previous round.
F: Djokovic with astma who played a 5-set thriller against the King of hardcourts previous round. (The real final)

Good luck with the explanation you'll need it. ;)

Nadal beat 2 out of 3 top 10 guys. And Tsonga was even more tired than Youzhny in the SF. Murray and Davydenko should have been tough opponents on paper but Murray was very nervous through the first 2 sets and I have no idea WTF went on in Davydenko's head after missing those backhands. Of course Verdasco was not exactly fresh and mentally stable either. The only win that impressed me was when Nadal beat Djokovic. Wanted it to be vs Federer though

If a fatiqued Djokovic impressed you so much then imagine what fit Djokovic would have done.

he had a day off to recover and 2 of his sets in the semi were very quick. Djokovic always looks fatigued.

As you say Djokovic always looks fatiqued. Clearly those 2 days were not enough for him to recover. Like we all know he has some health problems wich really troubles him sometimes. Nadal was at 100% against Djokovic. Reaching the finals without breaking a sweat and then being rewarded a 2 days rest. What else do you want? Ow wait, maybe a dead-tired Djokovic?

I remember them running around quite vividly

Did you switch the channel after the first set? There was no fire left in their eyes. Their remaining strength was just for the crowd entertainment. Take an example of Youznhy, he managed to wake the crowd up at the very end.

Djokovic played a pretty big match, almost came back in the 3rd set too, except nadal put the hammer down with his new massive gigantor serve in that final game. :) Expect more of that in the coming years vs. all sorts of opponents.

I'm surprised we don't see players try to hit the returner a couple times especially on those big points, since they'd get the point.

that is ridiculous. It's not like he played a 5 hour semi with lots of long rallies and lost in the 5th set of the final. They even played at night which is cooler. He always looks fatigued, that doesnt mean he always is. He looked more tired in the 1st round than in the final.

You make sureshs sad :( The REAL slam trumps AO and IW

Need Facts

I'm pretty sure Rafa has more hardcourt points this year than Federer so im not sure what you're getting at.

How is that possible since Federer has the better record than Nadal on Hard? 1 all in Hard Court slams sure, but Federer has a better record in Masters events on Hard. (3 Finals including 1 win, Nadal no Finals).

Nadal has 4,450 points from hard court and Federer has 5,305 points from hard court.
