Ok, here's a little competition for a poly/syn gut hybrid
The goal is to have the best hybrid with good power, control, durability, touch, and spin that would cost $10 or less to string one racquet. Go!
Well, i'll be happy to answer this. HEAD is the way to go, :-?. Half set sonic pro- 5.99, and half set FXP - 4.50. I say 10.49 is close enough. Or if you like, you could replace the FXP and put any cheap syth gut under 4 bucks in.
wow. way to just ruin a fun experiment dude. i just wanted to see what hybrid people could come up with. but yeah ten city, i had sonic pro for the whole string job in my old head hg extreme and i thought it was the best string i had ever had
Just started using this setup this week:
MSV Focus Hex mains ~$4 I think? And Gosen Micro-sheep ~$3 I think (both 17 gauge). Seems to fit into all of the categories if you ask me.
Volkl Cyclone or MSV Hex for mains. PS Maxim Touch/Forten Sweet/Signum Pro Ultra Power SF for crosses. Trust me, not just cost effective but equally amazing playability.
Well my racket right now is strung full bed with RIPc17. Here is my review of it, ratings from ---all the way to+++ with a = in the middle...
DURABILITY(for a 17) +
POWER --
CONTROL +++
FEEL ++
COMFORT ++
SPIN POTENTIAL +
TENSION RETENTION =
RACKET SPECS: YT Radical MP, strung@55 w/ prestretch.
PLAYING ABILITY: Long, moderate speed strokes with moderate spin.
As for how it will play with sonic pro? I'd imagine fairly close to FXP, which i've also played with and give roughly the same ratings, but i've never done either one of those hybrids, just played with all 3 of these strings individually.
