Hey guys,

what is the best hybrid with natural gut, and is gut better on the mains or crosses(durability not a factor yet)? Also, is full natural better than a hybrid?

Thanks.

It all depends on your strokes and how you play. Tell us more about your game so we can more judge which way would be best for you. Thanks.

have tried gut mains with cross of alu pwr rgh, k-boom, v-rex, isospeed pro; end up loving the "unique feel" of gut/iso combo.
have tried gut cross with main of k-boom,alu pwr rgh; it is far too stiff for my TE

I like to use max power, rs Lyon, yptp, or msv cofocus as a cross with gut. Max power and rs Lyon for more control, and yptp or msv cofocus for more power.

Gut now is mostly the same (rip in peace, original 14 strand NG) between Wilson/Lux/Babolat. An amateur player isn't going to be able to feel much difference between poly crosses, so it's more about preserving the gut mains. I like Diadem flash.

And yes, a full bed of natural gut is still the best and what most of us should be playing with, but obviously that comes at a price (tag).

edit: Dangit. OP is probably dead of old age by now.

Does anyone use Luxilon Element as a cross? I strung a full bed of it in my Bab Pure Storm GT Tour.
I have 4G soft and alu power feel and Big Banger Ace to try as a cross as well if I break them out

LOL @GuttaPercha why revive a thread from 2007

The main issue I have with a full bed of gut is string movement. There's nothing I loathe more than having to straighten strings between points. If I could avoid that, I'd definitely still use it in lower powered frames.

Carry one of those string things like Flipper? Come on straightening gut is so old school cool.
