Best Inexpensive shoes?

I am trying out for a tennis team this spring and I realized that my tennis shoes are getting worn out and, upon closer examination, that they are just non-marking cross trainers that look like court shoes that I got a few years ago anyway. So anyway, I'm looking for a durable shoe, probably $65 or under. Generally adidas and New Balance and some Nike fit me the best in normal shoes, but then again I have never tried on shoes by Wilson or the other tennis-only type companies. Of course I will go try the shoes out at a local place instead of buying over the net, I just want some suggestions. Thanks.

Give Prince shoes a look. I think they make the best tennis shoes on the market for the dollar. Much better value than most of the other "shoe company" brands that spend all of your money paying pros for endorsements.

i usually get mine with good soles at Ross from $12.99 to $29.99 various brands sketcher to addidas, new balance or even nike...go figure:cool:

With tennis shoes, you will generally get what you pay for. My experience with low end shoes has been poor durability. I got a pair of cheap head shoes, and the knitting broke apart in less than a month. I got a pair of low-end Princes and I broke a hole through the forefoot in only a few months. I got another pair of Head shoes (CSPEED or something) and the support was negligible, I could really feel the sport in my joints after playing.

With that in mind, don't buy inexpensive shoes with high expectations!

check out the figjams on tw liquidation. for $40 you can't go wrong. nice shoe - comfy, durable, good traction. little on the heavy side but you don't notice.

I tried the wilson fantoms and am now trying the crossfire, both are very good in terms of traction and comfort but the toe wears out within 3-4 months of play.

I've had 3 pairs of Diadora Mens Rebound Ace - they have lasted really long and are only about $59 or so.

The Figjams are not a bad idea, the durability is what it could be but not terrible. I'd look at sale or clearance shoes if I were you, and I'd strongly recommend the Nike Resolve for a durable shoe.

The Fantoms are only $39.99 and are a pretty comfortable, lightweight shoe that's nice and low to the ground.

i wouldnt recommend wilsons (unless crossfires) if you are a toe dragger...right now, i would probably get match day pumps...but weight could be an issue for you

i got a pair of adidas tirand II's. they feel great. i think i like them better
than my barricade II's. they were 55.95. a great deal i think...

Are the NBs 653s, or 780s? Those are the two sub 60 NB shoes my local store has. And what are Figjams? Who makes em?

figjams were reebok's flagship shoe before the MDP's came out

The fantoms are great, very lightweight and gives a low to the groud feel with all the cushioning. Very inexpensive too 39.99 and lasted me quite a long time 6 months about playing 2 days a week for about 2 hours.

NB 653's

I recently purchased the NB 653's. They felt great in the store, but have been rubbing blisters on my little toe from seam stitching. I too was trying to save a little money and bought the 653's for $59 locally. They work fine if I put a band aid on my toe before I wear them.

I'm playing at least 3 times a week, so I decided I probably need a second pair since my feet sweat so much when I play. So, I just ordered the Addidas Baricade IV's and I hope they work out better.

A good idea when buying shoes/apparel while trying to save money is to buy last season's stuff. Got my Nike Shox Ace for half price recently.

I've had two pair of NB 652..they are pretty good..not a whole lot of arch support, but were fairly durable for 3-4 months..indoor and out..Hot in the summer here in NC though

k-swiss (can't remember model #) for $50. I've tried more expensive prince, adidas, and nikes but I settled on k-swiss.

For your price point of $65, I would choose from reebok MDP, 3D pro or upset. Nike Air resolve. All these shoes have good reviews.

I have the NB 652 and have been looking at the NB 653 because of the good experince I have had with them but looks like that is out.

Wilson Crossfire II

Recently bought myself a pair (paid £40 for them) and they have proved to be a great pair of shoes. If you look at the TW review they are highly recommended and are compared with the Nike Vapor S2's , "Wilson took the Nike Vapor S2 design, beefed it up and added a durable outsole." Overall a very good pair of shoes for what really is a tiny price. Highly Recommended!

Check out the FILA TORNEOS.. They are cheap around $40 and seem very good, I myself will get me a pair before the tennis seasons starts.
