Impatiently I decided to comeback to USTA this past sunday. Didn't go particularly well, I summed up my mood in about a minute. cant put any wrist snap on serves so even when lightly swinging overhead a lot of serves floated long, I double faulted probably 15 times. And this guy was kinda a backboard, I had many, many unforced errors due to being so out of practice having not played except one brief hit in 3 months. At the same time I know if I wasn't hurting and could hit a normal 1st or even 2nd serve I'd beat him, no problem. He's lost to guys I've smashed, as one look at our tennis records would confirm. At a certain point I'm just underhanding most serves and I take out some of my frustrations on my opponent.
In the first point, I go to the net to put away the easy ball, but realize that 1. The ball is backspinning almost back over to his side of the net, so that my overhead swing would: 1. Hurt me badly and 2. likely the follow-through (even a short one) would result in me hitting the net. So I hastily try to stylishly plink the ball over and couldn't even do that properly...
