Best M-Fil Model?

Hey everyone!

I'm just wondering, which Dunlop M-Fil racket model do you think is best? Please try to justify your answer.

I might buy one of these, I keep on hearing such good things about them.

How do all of these M-Fils differ?

Thanks in advance! :)

PS: Right now I'm looking more towards the Dunlop M-Fil 300.

I like the mfil 300. It's lighter than the 200 and a bit more power, which is what I look for. Overall, a very good racquet, nothing i can really complain about.

i choose m-fil 200 16x19 less power than the 300 & 400 and heftier than these 2 models, that means more stable. i think all of them are comfortable stick. i tried adding lead on all of them but i like the m-fil 200 most because it fits my game and don't have to worry hitting the ball long. i added 13gms in the handle and 2.5gm on 10 & 2 on the hoops. weights about 12 oz w/ over grip and dampener.

I like the M-Fil 200 Plus 2006 model... it's the M-Fil 200 Plus specifications, but regular length. I just liked the feel of the racquet when I hit the ball. Just enough flex for control and I could generate my own power!

I've already searched, however, I can't find any that directly compare the similar 200/300/400 models.

Unfortunately you won't find a review on MFIL 400.

Ok - I 'll give some prespective

- 200 (Standard) is a heavy racquet, very forgiving racquet and easy to find the sweetspot . Due to the heavy swing weight - you will find yourself tiring easily after a hour.

- 200 Plus (2006) I have the standard size (27 inch) , it is a tad lighter and a little bigger head size than the 200 standard. Open string offer easy access to spins, this racquet felt a very different for me because of the lighter swing rate compare to the M fil 200 standard. I found the racquet frame too soft, had a hard time generating power.

300 is the best choice of all three models. This racquet has received rave reviews from players - baseliners to S/V players. offers perfect balance of power and control.

400 - I have not play with this model. In comparison the 400 with 300, the 400 offers a stiffer frame, slightly bigger head (means more power) and longer frame. I would think this racquet is perfect for baseline players.

Question 1 for you is what type of player are you? S/V , Baseliner, Pusher or All court player.

Question 2 - do you or are you comfortable with playing with a stiffer racquet?

I currently play with a 4.5 player who uses the M FIL 300, he loves it. He used to play the 400G (older model). He said he like the control on the MFil 300 better.

Hope this help!

I have the 400G, 3 MF300s and I have hit with the 200. The 200 is a bit heavy and has a denser string pattern. I love the 300, good stock weight, not too stiff, good feel on the ball also. I have mine weighted a bit. It really is a great frame.

The 200 Plus 2006 is a sweet stick. Add a leather grip or a little weight here and there and it's a great racquet!

I'm probably around 3.5, based on videos and descriptions I've seen about the rating system. I'm usually an all-court player but I can change plans according to the type of opponent I face. For example, if I know my opponent likes to make more powerful shots that land further out, I can play baseline and place them well to make my opponent run. If I'm facing someone who I know has weaker shots, I can assume something closer to the role of a serve and volly-er and put more pressure on them. My main practice priorities right now are developing better spin and also making my serves more consistent (I try to practice serving every day if possible). I have a one-handed backhand, as well as a very consistent forehand (once again, at this stage I want to develop spin).

The rackets I would be considering right now are the Dunlop M-Fil 200 or 300 (most likely the 300), or the Head Liquidmetal Prestige. Which of these would you recommend for me?

Also, has anyone else used lead on their M-Fil? Where exactly did you put it, and how has it worked out?

M-fil 300 has a great blend of power, control and spin and its my racquet of choice. The 200 has a pretty big swingweight but had an ok sweetspot.

I wanted more spin to my kickers and western forehand shots so I popped a dime inside the butt.

What does a dime in the butt have to do with spin?

I like the MF300, but have no experience with the others, so my posting on this thread is pretty much useless - just curious about the dime in the but spin thing. heh.

Dime's weight makes racquet slightly more headlight.

you should probably demo any racquet your looking to buy.
As for asking for advice here - you should know most people are heavily biased and the only responses you'll get are 200 or 300. Demo ones with specs you think you might like and see for yourself. I hated the m-fil 300 when I demoed it and find it far inferior to the Aerogel 300. (Also that stripe grip the m-fil comes with is UGLY ;) )

Edit: What's your current racquet?

mfil 300 is very good, even tho you only get as much power as you can produce

Control and topspin makes it beast, not good valleying experience with it neither.

I dunno the exact physics of it but it feels faster through the air, I swing faster, more spin.

I got the mFil 200 18x20 and it's a pretty good stick. Slightly heavy but very surprisingly, lighter to swing than my older PS Tour 95. The swingbed does not allow for massive spin if you're hitting a defensive shot but for flat and small spin, it does hit well. Dunno if I'm gonna get a second 200, if I do it'll be the 16x19... but I've read a lot of posts that say the 300 is quite the stick.

I bought 2 2006's, and after adding a leather grip and lead at 3 and 9 in the head i found the rigght balance.

The initial weight and balanc of the racket gives you a lot of options for customizing

Seems like the general concensus is to add a leather grip and lead at 3 and 9. I'll try that with mine.

Will this make the racquet more stable and eliminate a little more shock? Since I got mine, I have a wierd twinge in my forearm. I don't wanna say it's TE, (knock on wood)...

M-Fil 200

I was using the M-Fil 200s (18x20) for several months and it is a great stick. The string bed doesnt really allow much spin but the stability and plow through you get with it is unmatched. I tried a few different strings in the racket to try to find the best match and i found the luxilon BB roughs were the best as they helped with the spin issue and still supplied some power to the "powerless" racket. From the players rackets i have tried this ranks among the top. Great stick. I recently went to a pure drive + so i am selling my M-Fils but the 200s get my vote in the best of the M-Fil line.
