Best movie you ever watched

That was actually a Robert Rodriguez film if I am not mistaken. But it's easy to get them confused they basically do the same thing, although Tarantino is much better at it

Tarantino was an actor in that one, co-wrote the screenplay.

It's hard to pick one.. but this movie just blew me away

The Usual Suspects

Among the newer ones the ones that come to mind...
- LOR, Matrix, Bourne Identity, Shutter Island, Inception

Devil's Backbone.

by Guillermo Del Toro who also directed Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy series.

I've seen Scream 1 and 2, I am dying to see Scream 3. The sooner I see that, the sooner I see Scream 4 :P So far, no.2 is the best.

Patch adams and aladdin are my favorites. That robin williams is in both is coincidental

Swyped from my iPhone killer/HTC Desire

I couldn't name one movie, but the films who got me into classic cinema were "The third man" by Carol Reed, the Italian movie "The bicycle thief" and two old Spanish movies called "Placido" and "Welcome Mr. Marshall", both by the same director (too bad these two are unknown outside Spain because they're magic).

"2001 a space odyssey", "The godfather I & II", "The apartment" and "Lawrence of Arabia" are also on my list of best films ever made.

And no "Once upon a time in the west"?

As much as I love the Eastwood/Leone trilogy, Leone's fourth western was his best. His best scenes as a director and some of the best scenes ever filmed are in that movie.

Is that the one with Charles Bronson in it? If it is the one where he gets off the train and the 3 guys are waiting ofr him then thats a classic.

..speaking of Charles Bronson,...anybody ever see 'Hard Times',...starring him??????...freaking GREAT movie!!!!!

You should watch it! VERY emotional movie, very bittersweet. Robin William's finest work if you ask me. And it's all based on a true story too.

Ehh...I get kind of burnt out on Robin Williams movies, so often he plays the same role. The quirky odd man, who goes against the establishment or colleagues, always the "seize the day" type.Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam, The Awakening, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams. There are def. actors who do the same thing movie after movie, but usually they're not as over-hyped as Williams is.

No doubt that I love a lot of his movies, but the more and more an actor plays the same role, the less I believe he's acting or performing. Not too mention that Patch Adam's specifically was one of the most outright cheesy, sappy, hallmark type movies I've ever seen.

Heh, I wonder if you would say that to the real Patch Adams.

"Yours is the most outright cheesy, sappy, hallmark type life I've ever seen. So you're nuts and lost your will to live, but you miraculously found a reason to live again only to tragically lose it once more. In the end, you found a greater reason to move forward and embrace life. Good for you! Sucker."

Anyway, I've heard of, but haven't seen the other movies you mention so I guess I got lucky.

To this day, I still think Robin Williams' best work is "Moscow On The Hudson". I like a lot of his movies. He does tend to play the same character in every movie. But in "Moscow On The Hudson" he really did play someone out of his usual character.

My top two are...

Raiders of the Lost Ark and Die Hard

After that there is a whole slew

Predator, Aliens, The Thing, Escape From New York, First Blood, Death Wish 1and 2, The Great escape etc. etc.

My choices:

On the Waterfront
Streetcar Named Desire
Godfather - Part 1 and Part 2
Blackboard Jungle
East of Eden
Yankee Doodle Dandy
Stalag 17
Great Escape
Ten Commandments
Pickup on South Street
Yankee Doodle Dandy
Forrest Gump

I think you are getting the person and the character mistaken, if you believe that movie was exactly how his life was you would be sadly mistaken. It shouldn't be news that Hollywood has "artistic license" to make things more sappy and melodramatic.

You have a few of my favorites in there. Suprised to see Blackboard Jungle. Good to see though. I have always been a big fan of Glenn Ford AKA....The Fastest Gun Alive!

It looks like Yankee Doodle Dandy is your favorite since you watched it 3 times. :)

Didn't realize I put Yankee Doodle Dandy there 3 times...LOL....I like that movie. Magnut - I like Blackboard Jungle. Glenn Ford was a very good actor. I also liked Vic Morrow in that film. He should have been nominated for an Academy Award. Nobody played the "bad guy" as good as him. I also liked him in the COMBAT t.v. series from back in the 1960's.

It is interesting. I share your exact sentiments about The Usual Suspects. I was just blown away. All the people I talked to about this movie were either blown away by it or simply respond "I knew what the ending was. How exactly is that a twist?".

Cool Hand Luke and pretty much any Clint Eastwood movie

i once got called for jury duty. they handed out a questionaire one of the questions was name your favorite movies. i wrote down "dirty harry"

the next day, the prosecutor picked me to serve but the defense attorney immediately dismissed me but before he did that, he put me on stand and asked me "you indicated that one of your favorite movies is "dirty harry." why do you like that movie?" i replied "i like it because it's a real good movie." :)

the trial that i got off was the state against an accused serial killer. they said he had killed 10 people over the years.

Since this thread has been resurrected, I'll say The Third Man is the best I've ever watched, better than Citizen Kane, but O Lucky Man! is my favorite. For the type of movie it is, I'd say Mary Poppins is nearly perfect, and the same could be said for 2001 and Dr. Strangelove.
