Best overgrip?

I would say Gamma supreme overgrip. It is very tacky and yet absorbs lots of moisture.
if you want a dry dry feel then Sampras blue overgrip is best.

My favorite are Klipper's white overgrips, they are probably the most underrated overgrips. They have a very unique feel that everyone needs to try.

Solinco is quite amazing IMO. That's the impression I get from the rackets my friends have gripped with it. Not sure about the durability though. After a few days I try their rackets again and the feel has gone down a lot. :/

Gamma Supreme. But spend the $16 yourself and get one pack of Gamma Supreme, Wilson Pro, Yonex SuperGrap and Tourna Grip - white on the first three, and just the blue is available on the last. Those first three seem to be what people prefer when it is a bit drier, and the Tourna is what a lot of people go to when it's hot/humid. Everyone has their own opinion, but 3/4 of them are not going to be the same as yours.

tourna-grip.. not much love here for it, but with that being said ... comfortable when dry & when points, games or matches are in doubt it really absorbs sweat like a sponge.

just the thread im looking for. Ive heard so much about the yonex supergrap. Based on experience, how long does it take (i.e. hrs of play) before it needs to be replaced? Cheers!

it's unique to the player on how long any of them last.

If cost was not a concern, I'd use Tourna Grip and replace the grip after each match. But since that can get expensive, I go w/ Wilson Pro. I can get 3-4 matches out of each.

Specifically, I order the 60 grip bucket. It comes to ~ $0.91 per wrap.

Gamma Supreme for me here. Really comfortable. I probably get two matches out of each one, sometimes three.

The Wilson and Yonex are very close too - basically the same type of technology I am guessing.

I'm picky about my overgrips. I'll go 2 matches tops and then replace them.

Yonex and Wilson are must tries, although i like a thicker over so Yonex is for me =D.

^^Agreed. Yonex and Wilson are pretty similar, but I prefer Yonex. It's a little more durable than Wilson and it remains tacky longer. The only problem is Yonex either comes in 3 pack, or 30 and for that reason, many people go with Wilson pro.

Yes, I agree with you. I have experimented and used many different overgrips. Klippermate overgrips are top notch and probably the cheapest in cost compared to the rest. You get 4 in a pack for something line $2.95 in varying color selections. As a parent of a junior player, one of the things I noticed that is really important and will give a player an edge is, a fresh bed of strings and fresh overgrips.

The thing about overgrip is that its main benefit will depend very much on the type of hand you have. Basically, people with dry hands will have a very different preferences to people with sweaty hands. The former will most appreciate tackiness but not not absorbency and the latter will definitely cannot play with overgrips without good absorbency.

In summary:

For sweaty hands: Tourna Grip, Yonex Super grip, Wilson Pro
For dry hand: Gamma Supreme, Head Extreme Soft

I have not tried all overgrip so there can be others that better than the above. However, as a rule, people recommend overgrip should also disclose what type of hand they have.

Thanks for your summary.
It helps.

I personnally use mainly replacement grips. (Wilson K-grip). It lasts long and feel is very good. So I think it even comes cheaper in the long run.

But next time when I order something from here, I think I will put Gamma Supreme and Wilson Pro to the test.

Lots of love for Gamma Supreme and it's deserved. I live in Australia and play with a bunch of guys and I import a heap of Gamma Supreme black overgrips from TW about every 6 months. All 8 of us swear they are the best you can get. Just a little tacky - not so much that the grip feels sticky, nicely cushioned and very durable. Someone mentioned it before - put some new strings and a new Supreme o/grip on your frame and you're just about guaranteed to play your best tennis.

Head extreme soft is really thin and you can even stretch it out to make it thinner. really tacky that it occasionally hinder you changing your grip. .

gamma supreme is above average in thickness. I agree with the love for supreme here. not as tacky as extreme soft but still very comfortable.

both last way longer than yonex and wilson.

Okay, might be converting to the supergroup soon. It doesn't seem to leave the same residue on my replacement grip that the Supreme does. Hopefully, I made the right call. Kept some Supremes just it case. But I got tired of picking the remnants off my replacement grip all the time.

i can say,i use all kind of babolat overgrips, and for me the protour works best is durable and have a verygood absorption, its beter than wilson pro overgrip and other babolat overgrips,Nadals overgrip (vsOriginal) is very thin and not lastlong for me.

Pacific X Tack Pro ...

Perfect overgrip for very dry hands - very tacky, comfortable and lasts long enough !

I used Gamma Supreme mainly because it was available locally. It was long-lasting and a bit on the thick side. I use Wilson Pro now - bought a big bag of them from TW and have gone through them already (some friends bought a bunch off of me as they aren't available locally and they were cheap in bulk).

As mentioned before the Wilson Pro doesn't last as long as the Supreme but I prefer the feel - definitely tackier. I have tried the Head overgrips with the cuts through them - hated them. I have also tried some of the Prince overgrips - another brand carried locally sometimes - not bad but I prefer Supreme to Prince and Wilson Pro to Supreme.

Definitely NOT the Prince tacky ones. I just put one on (although it is a few years old sitting in my drawer), and it lasted only 3-4 hrs. The skin is peeled off like a tourna grip, only much quicker!
OMG I am glad that was my last strip of Prince OG.

Those Gamma color print ones are also no good. The tackiness goes away in 4-5 hrs.

I have agree with the guys who like Wilson Pro and Yonex super grab.

I have been a gamma supreme user for a long time. they are very good. wilson pro grip is very good too. what's up with the big price increase on gamma?

I bought a ton of Wilson Pro from TW before I had a multi-year layoff and found them last week. Should last me about ten years.

Good thread and it seems Gamma Supreme is a popular one. I understand it is 0.60mm

I currently use Pro’s Pro Aqua Zorb Premium, which is 0.70mm. I like some of the new versions in terms of the colours. Some colour seems to be more tacky and absorbent then others.

After years of using them, I am now quite tempted to move into something else. Can anyone please recommend a tacky & absorbent 0.70mm OG that is worthwhile trying? Don’t mind going up to 0.75mm I think. Thanks.

For winter (which it is right now), I like using Yonex Super Grap for the tackiness.

Once the weather starts to get hot, I have to switch to a dry and absorbent overgrip. I used to use Tourna, but right now I'm using Dunlop U-Sweat and Volkl V-Dry. Just as absorbent, but last longer than Tourna.

Yonex Super Grap has been my favorite and I have super sweaty hands in the summer. Volkl V-dry is really nice, but I find it too thick and I can't feel the bevels well. It's not bad on my leather grips, though.
