Clay- Nadal
Grass- Nadal
Hard courts- Federer
Overall- Nadal


Women:

Clay- Stosur
Grass- Serena
Hard courts- Clijsters
Overall- Clijsters

Also the womans side was fairly even in the hard court season

Clay - Stosur (yes Schiavone won the FO, but Stosur won Charleston, F in Stuttgart and F at the French)

Well there were 2 hardcourt slams, and Federer won the other one. Fed also won a Masters, the WTF and 2 smaller titles on hard, while Nadal won just one smaller hard court tournament in addition to his USOpen. It's pretty clear Federer deserves the nod as best hard court player in 2010, just as it is clear that Nadal was the best overall player in 2010.

Federer won the Australian Open, WTF, a Masters on hard courts, and was runner up in 2 other Masters. Nadal won the U.S Open and lost in the semis of some Masters events on hard courts. It really isnt even close.

And Murray without winning a hard court slam, and with Federer winning both a hard court slam and WTF, isnt any consideration vs Federer either.
