Best points ever played..

How high up on the list would this one me? Although he loses the point the squash type shot Fed hits from the back corner is absolutely insane!

There's another point from this match I like just as much, I'll have to watch full highlights at some point and find it :)

I remember a point that Nadal won against Stephanek at Rome. I think 2005. Not sure if it is still somewhere online. It was absolutely insane. Something I have never seen ever

Nadal is the king of showing us things we've never seen ;)

That point has to be the moast insane point for me ever. Never seen anything like that, even now when 14.5 years have passed.
OP's rally is my moast favourite Frãudal rally along with that rally from AO17 but that MC05 point is my favourite Nadal point.

Aah. Great point to relive. To this day I can't believe how many times Nadal lost that point only to win it in the end. I dont think we will ever see anything like this.

I would have thought you watch highlights from that match once per week. :p

But then, too many epic matches from Rafa to choose from, no? ;)

Exactly. And as the years have gone by I don't watch his old highlights that much anymore. Couldn't tell you the last time I watched Rafa highlights that are older than 2013 8-B (2014-2016 get skipped for obvious reasons) so I mainly watch current stuff, and sometimes 2017/18, when he retires I'll go back and start from 05 :p

He was a bunny back then. Amazing footspeed with great reflexes and racket skills. Scary that he has lost significant footspeed and is yet the man to beat on clay - AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!!!

seriously this point was insane. Stepnak hit 3 outstanding winners (for any lesser player) plus an unreturnable serve, yet ended up losing that point.

Stepanek won that point three times over but Nadal still got away with it.

I had a feeling it would be this point! I love it, including Roger's insane squash shot. Both played it near-flawlessly, but Rafa was just a little more insane here!

Oh that's another one of them peak Djokovic points that show his formidable tactics in full glory.
Closely watch that replay at 1:10.
Those last 2 BHS!!
1st one shows the depth on his shots. CC BH right at Rafa's feet. Draws a very so and so weak response from Rafa's FH.
And the 2nd BH DTL almighty opportunistic to stomp that weak short ball with amazing width(as far as it could be from Rafa).
This one shows his outwordly splitting of the court.
Love it.

Honestly, I remember saying Fed will never beat him again after that point. Obviously I was a prisoner of the moment, but my goodness. It was very similar to a point in the 5th at AO17, but Fed did it to Rafa.
Not after that point, but I did believe that after the match ended.

I was already starting to think it after Wimbledon, but this match kinda confirmed it to me.

That point/match does show how high of a level they played at a consistent level. I just don't feel their matchups feel that way. Even at AO17 it was really only the 5th.

Depth is underrated which makes the AO point even more impressive given Federer hits his second last shot right on the baseline and Nadal still gets it back putting Federer in a somewhat neutral position.

Totally agreed. I don't think there's ever been a rally more perfect than the rally in the OP.
Every single shot is perfect.
The serve is good. The return even better.
The next few shots that follow are by no means weak. And then Roger hits the IO FH which Rafa answers with an even better FH DTL. Roger has to hit the best squash shot ever to get that ball in. And damn where it goes. To the absolute opposite corner. Depth and width.

Nadal shows amazing athletic ability to reach the ball and great control to throw the ball back.

In response Fraud plays one of the weirdest BHs ever. It's like he didn't take any time at all to hit it, he takes it so early and it looks to be going out by quite a margin when it falls right on Rafa's legs with amazing depth and you think oh surely he will net this one. No way he is putting this back in play.
But then with an almost un-Nadal like FH swing he puts it back.

Roger hits not a bad IO FH though he opened the court quite a bit when he went for the IO. Always been a low key weakness of Roger against Rafa in their youth times. He opened the court hitting that IO FH and Rafa would direct the ball DTL out of his reach.

And that's what he did oh so brilliantly.
And I can't agree more with the below.
these two guys made magic together

This point is low-key on Rafa's TIGER résumé.
Fraud played the moast TIGER(damn I hate this T-word) shot in the point though.
Rafa's were awesome. No doubt but Fraud's squash made me go OMG OMG.

Was it really "almost an outburst from Nadal" though? Always wondered why the commie said that.

Yeah, I've heard him say it a million times and then wonder what it was and then move on lol.
Had to watch 7 or so minutes of deuces and Fraud missing a gazillion first serves and erroring and even double faulting to reach the 'almost an outburst from Nadal' part.
And it was nothing lol.
Rafa had a BP but missed an easy putaway by his standards and made a cringe face that made his Cãpy features more apparent. And the commie was like oh it's almost an outburst by Nadal.
Man this is an early 4th set point and Fraud was 5/18 on BPs lol. Rafa was 5/7.
@Breakpointerer in full flow that day. Channeling his inner @Rafa's Pigeon for no apparent reason.
Missed so many first serves on important points, that he would mug it up even with a @Third Serve .
And Rafa was @Rafa.the.Magnificent like he always is in 90% of big matches.
Yeah, it's like

Now I am cringing at that girl's cringe face.
