Best racquet for a one handed backhand?

Your racquet is not the deciding factor, your technique is. It is all personal preference from there. What is good for me may be bad for you and vice versa. There are no shortcuts.

Good luck

I prefer a smaller headsize, but I agree with the above. You'll have to try a few out and see.

Not really, higher swingweihts are bad for a one handed bachand...

Wilson and Head are the best and most used racquets by pros that use the one handed backhand, I would also go for a 18x20 string pattern or possibly a 16x19, have a look at the Wilson K-Six One 95, Head Microgel Prestige MID 93, Wilson K Blade 98, good luck.

^^^ I've heard much worst questions around here.

& the 6.0 85!!!

If you were to pick one just on the merits of the 1HBH, the PS85 "China style" is my pick. Of course you have to nail the sweet spot consistently against an onslaught from your competition. But if you can, nothing is better.

This is a ridiculous thread, among many similar ones. You can hit a great 1h bh with any racquet.
It is ridiculous, the very idea that there are racquets better suited for 1hbhs vs 2hbhs, for left handers vs right handers, for hitting crosscourt forehands, for hitting returns of serves, yada, yada, yada, is absurd. How you hit matters much more than what you hit with. There is no magic racquet or set up that all by itself will make you a better player or enable you to hit shots that you can't now.

but....if more people on this forum were like you (true and right), what would happen to the racket industry!

I love the n6.1 tour and 95 versions for a one handed backhand :) Very solid *thwack* when you hit the sweet spot!

they make racquets specifically geared to excel at one handed backhands? what idiot would buy that kind of racquet? why not a racquet that you're comfortable with and suits your entire game. that is, of course, if the only thing you hit is a one handed backhand, then my whole point is moot.

Best racquet for a one handed backhand? or what speecs are good for this shot?
For me, it's was a very HL frame.. which was the LM Instinct Tour XL w/ leather. (Not to say that a frame can do all that work for you.)

Off course the idea that racquets can drastically improve one's BH is ridiculous. But on the other hand there are probably some specs that seem interesting for a OHBH such as: 98 s.i. or smaller., around 8 pts HL, not too high of a swingweight and maybe, just maybe a thinner beamed stick will make you feel more comfortable on the OHBH.

Try some dunlops, such as the ag100, ag200, ag500, etc. Also the wilson k90 is a megabeast.

interesting that you omitted ag300 while mentioning majority of the others in the aerogel family.

I hit better 1HBH with PD than my ag300, but it is not really comparable as I have altered the balance and weight of both racquets. I would say the head size does not affect my 1HBH much, but I do feel more comfortable with a HL as it put less stress on my shoulder.

The Federer´s backhand with a POG OS could be awesome...

For me the ideal BH weapon is, max 100 sq, min. 315grams unstrung, thin constant beam below 21 mm, 16x19 pattern, head light or max even balance (32.5cm) oval shaped headsize like Donnay, Volkl...
Lead at three and nine for torsional stability during impact, not too small of a grip. Matt finish pj (i dont like too glossy!!!)

works for me anyway! ;-)

tbh, Federer's backhand would be way better than mine even if he used a spank paddle!

Edit: lol ericsson, I find a matt finish helps my bh also

Do you think that oval shaped could produce more shanks?

Not if you hit the sweetspot man! but serious no i don't think so, shanks is by timing too late and not hit the sweetspot, ofcourse the smaller the sweetspot....

But i just like the oval shape cos it's nicer to hold, cuts through the air and looks great, i found the sweetspot not wider but longer.

Seriously, Pet, without being rude, you can hit a solid one-handed backhand with any racquet as long as you have proper technique. The highest regarded pro at my club (played on tour) has a one-handed backhand and plays with the Prince o3 Red, which has a 105 in head.

Liquid metal Instinct!!!!! Gasquet Style!!!!!!! i guess the micro gel extreme pro as of now....

personally it has to be either the K90, Ps 85 or the N90.

Hit a continental grip 1bh the bigger racquets with more power are best.

Two of the teaching pros at my local club hit their backhands this way. one play with a shark and one play with the head xi 6

I cannot speak to the absolute "best", but ever since I switched to the AG100 (90 sq. in.) with Lux strings, my hitting partner has been complaining about or complimenting my one-handed topspin backhand.
