Best round strings

Lately I have been stringing more and more for other people. I did not have the intention of becoming a stringer but it just happened that people needed my help with that.

Now the problem is, I used exclusively shaped strings. And many people are using exclusively rounded strings. And now my problem is I don't know much about round strings.

I'd like to know as much as possible about most popular and best round strings.

Thanks a lot.

First two things that come to mind are Luxilon and Kirschbaum. Not sure why Kirschbaum came to mind right after Luxilon, but those two brands would give you a range of prices for your clients.

Yonex Poly Tour Pro is my favorite round string I've tried - good power, springy responsive feel, soft. Made me think differently about round strings. Short lived, but fun while it lasts.

Luxilon 4G Soft for a more experienced player looking for a more classic controlled feel with longevity. Not a very soft string despite the name.

Kirschbaum Max Power is a great option imo. Also, I lke Yonex Poly Tour strike a lot, black version. I have reels of both in 1.25, really all the string I need.

That doesn’t stop me from buying other strings of course. [emoji849][emoji6]

the round strings that come to mind are:

pure plasma signum, nice comfort and a little "very good" string everywhere. exists in several gauges, from 1.20 to 1.28 or 1.30m, I don't know.
dyreex whisper, blue string, exists only in 1.25mm with a silicone coating which favors the snapback
kirschbaum evolution 1.25mm, blue, which is therefore an evolution of its pro line, already a reference in terms of string
weisscannon scorpion, a string that goes everywhere that some people think of as a best seller.
yonex poly tour tough, which I prefer to yonex poly tour fire, the latter has an infused silicone coating, but although this has not been confirmed by yonex, I find the tough very similar for half the price of fire.
still in black select, which is midnight blue, and really an unrecognized string.
tecnifibre red code wax, wax coating, also for the snapback.
isospeed cream, which is separate, but which I think should be tried.
genesis black magic, in 1.23mm which is a string goes everywhere, for me no negative point or weak point.
topspin cyberflash, in 1.20mm it is really very good, and like many other strings mentioned here has quite a few weak points.

I think all these strings are well under $ 10, except probably the isospeed cream.

at home, I always have some pure plasma, evolution, black magic, red code and select in a corner, these are really useful strings everywhere, which rarely disappoint. which can become really great strings.

A lot of people rave about Weiss Canon Silverstring and Topspin cyberflash but Tourna Big Hitter Silver is almost identical and even cheaper. TW string number shows it's even softer and has more spin potential that the silverstring and cyberflash

You mention "round" strings vs "shaped" strings. You may want to check and make sure its not "synthetic gut" vs "poly". Most synthetic guts are round. Of course, so are many polys. A good price/performance poly in my opinion is Head Sonic Pro. It seems relatively soft. Solinco Outlast is good too, but a little firmer. If you're looking for more control, the Outlast is very good. If you buy a reel, the Topspin Cyberflash is a good playing, economical string too.

No, it is not synthetic gut vs poly people I talk about specifically asked for round poly. :)

A student gave me once a reel of Pro Line II to string her racquet. It felt pretty soft. She used 1.25 if I remember correctly.

but its not slick, maybe thats what usually people look for when they are looking for a cross round string. n any case when i strung it for people, they seemed to like it.

There isnt such thing as the best string.
Some like Yonex poly tour pro 1.25 but i find it too mushy. However i did like the 1.20 , much crisper, more spin, better feeling as long as it lasts because it loses its tension to fast. And now they upped the price of reels to 100 euro which is really too much.
I once used a set of Prince xr 1.25 and i found it had enough spin potential and durability.
Same for Pros pro concept 1.28
Same for Solinco outlast 1.20, but in reels costs too much.
I like Signum pro megaforce 1.29. Very durable and good feeling but dont string it tight. Its reasonable priced ;)

So, far I ordered, Kirschbaum Pro Line II, Kirschbaum Competition, KIrschbaum Max Power and Yonex Poly Tour Pro.

I have on my list Alu Power as it is demanded by a lot of players though I really hate playing with it.

I like RS Lyon 1.25mm, but since Tenniswarehouse is not selling it and the official online seller always shows it's out of stock, I'm in a hunt for a new rounded poly too that are similar to RS Lyon

What is the difference between Yonex Poly Tour Pro yellow and black?
I've used them both. They say brightly colored strings are more lively, but couldn't tell the difference between the two. I enjoy the yellow more simply because cosmetically it looks better in the deep blue 2020 Yonex Ezone.

Head lynx? Lynx 17g has spin potential of 7.0, but I’m sure I can bring that up with a lower tension.

I’ve tried more than 50 strings over the years and if I had to choose just 1, it would be Kirschbaum Proline Evolution.
for me one of the most underrated strings of all.

halfway between pro line evolution and yonex poly tour air is dyreex whisper, which is really a mix between these two strings. I am sure that if it was a big brand like luxilon, babolat or head which had released it it would be one of the best tricks in the world! .. but it is a very small French brand which does it.

for me, you have to try it! .. at less than 7 € a set it's really a great string!

Head Sonic Pro or IsoSpeed Baseline... Reels ..TW best buys.

Kirschbaum Pro Line 2 Black is lower powered round poly with decent touch and comfort (1.25 gauge). WeissCannon Scorpion is one great universal string...a bit crisper and more powerful than Kirschbaum PL2. Yonex Poly Tour Pro is very good, too.

All really dead feeling with good tension hold and tons of control (it's what I look for in any strings)

Easy...BBO
Interesting, some people like the BBO. I wish they made a 1.25 or 1.20mm version, I would buy a reel. The 1.30 is nice but it’s a real old school poly.
