From 2003 onward:

2012=2009>2011>2007>2008>2005>2013=2004>2014=2003>>>>> weak > 2006=2015=2010>>>>>2017>2018>2016

Imo

According to this stat it's more something like:

2011/2012 > 2009/2015 > 2008/2014 > 2003/2007/2010/2013/2016/2017 > 2005/2006/2018* > 2004

Andy Murray's 2016 at No17, ahead of Nadal's 2008...and Pistol Pete's best season at No18?

Something doesn't smell right!
Typical Federer fan:

- find something disagreeable.

- trash the whole method

What does being a Fed fan have to do with this! I have followed tennis long enough to know that Nadal's 2008 is miles ahead of Murray's 2016.
Not what I wrote.

Yeah it's the UTS baloney link you posted.
I wrote that it's typical by Fed fans to find something disagreeable (Nadal08 > Murray16 is TRUE) and trash the whole method completely, without taking any information from it.

It started out as an interesting read, but when I saw Murray at No17, ahead of Sampras, and Nadal's 2008 not even on the first page, that's were for me it lost credibility.

Typical Lew:

1. someone points out a potential flaw in your methodology that very well may be legitimate

2. no serious attempt at addressing this at all.

3. ???

4. $$$profit

All methods have valid points, I just post all of them, so anyone can choose the one they prefer.

And they all say the same thing.

No way is 2015 stronger than 2007,2008,2014,2013,2004. One peak ATG guy dominating the field with his main competition either playing crap (Nadal) or old (Fed)?

That’s like 2006, minus having peak Nadal on clay.

But according to the stat 2015's players had no.1, no.84, no.85 and no.148 best seasons in the Open Era.

According to this stat the best season ever is 2011:

4 players in the top-150
3 players in the top-100
2 players in the top-50

70s and 80s have many good years. Late 90s and early 2000s are the worst.

What stats are you referring to? And worst period is 2015 - 2018 by far. No other era ever has had geriatrics at the top with zero upcoming young talent challenging at the top.

Oh I clicked the link. Murray’s 2016 over Djokovic’s 2016, Fed’s 2009/2012 or Nadal’s 2008. Lol. This website clearly uses ranking points or something to measure it, which doesn’t take into account competition. The best years are 09,12 and 11 followed by 07-08.

Gotta say I love your “stats”. It’s like you pick arbitrary nonsense and frame them in a certain light to fit your agenda. It’s very impressive.

It's pretty simple really. If there is a year where one of the Big 3 sucked, it can't be a strong year. In 2015 Nadal sucked.

What happened to Federer at Wimbledon 2011? I don't remember him facing Nadal or Djokovic at Wimbledon that year. Did he lose to Tsonga? A year where Federer loses early at Wimbledon can't be the strongest IMO.

You are aware they have rated 2015 as Federers 11th best season? And Nadal 2015 is not on the list? Nads worst season on the list is 2012, which is rated 12th :).

So Federers 11th best season and Nadals worst makes 2015 strong? I thought you put Big3 high?

We all know Tsonga's peak level is way above Federer's, so it's bound to happen every now and then...

Nadal's 2008 was not his best season. 2010 and maybe even 2013 (higher winning percentage) were better
I agree but Nadal in 2008 won 2 Grand Slams, one of them against Federer at Wimbledon. Murray in 2016 only won 1 Grand Slam: Wimbledon, without facing any member of the Big 3.
So the logical inconsistency of the system could be shown, since Nadal in 2008 had a better season than Murray in 2016. 2 GS > 1 GS.

Federer had a very good period post Cincy2011 and into 2012 where he regained #1. That was the last of prime Fed...

I'm an atypical fan. What I know is simple:
  1. 2008 Nole wins his first slam.
  2. 2009 ~ 2011 he does not get through Fedal at the slams, wedged as a solid #3.
It's a heck of a sample size to not infer the one immediate and exceedingly obvious conclusion.

Are you aware that Federer himself defined 2015 as his peak? How you can question his self-assessment is beyond me.
Come on, tennis players are obligated to say these things. You think Federer would say in his speech after his Wimbledon-loss "Yeah Im not playing my best tennis anymore, i would crush Novak in my peak"?

Didnt Novak say after the Paris win over Fed that It was one of the best matches he had played this year? Most of his fans didnt even believe him...

This is why stats need to be analysed and can’t just be looked at as cold hard numbers.

Interesting that Federer 04-07 are all in the top 10. Federer 2015 down at 84. Anyone would think he was better in his mid-twenties but we know that's wrong and he clearly peaked at 34
Yeah now let's focus on the fact that 2003-07 other than Federer had no top-50 season.

You just have to tell me what is your favourite criteria.

Winning percentage?

Only slam results?

Just tell me and I will show you how 2003-07 was bad.

05-07 prime ATG across surfaces:

HC: Federer
Grass: Federer, Nadal (2007)
Clay: Nadal, Federer

2015-2016 prime ATG across surfaces:

HC: Djokovic
Grass: Djokovic
Clay: Djokovic

Therefore 05-07>>>>>>>>>>15-16.
