That was Rosies only backhand. He never hit flat or top, same with Graf, so it might be a tie
Rosewall hit some of his backhand passing shots almost flat. Graf hit topspin backhand passing shots on occasion.
So so true, his slice is the worst shot in the world technically. it only works because he is so talented that he makes up for his flaws
Maria Bueno, Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova.
Yes he had a backhand drive that had minimal slice compared to some of the variations of sidespin or dying slices we see today. But you could always see the slice. Graf did have a top but used it only when she was killing someone. She admitted to having no confidence in it
Getting back to a different era. All players back in the 50s and 60s used a lot of slice on their backhands. Over 1/2 their tournys were on the old grass, they were using heavy wood sticks, and it was hard to overpower. The top was what would be considered today as light top
McEnroe says Grigor Dimitrov has the best slice.
Today or all time. Rosey used ti as a pass a neutral shot and a def shot. Black heart has a huge top (Serena`s handle for the boy)
Laver had a nasty sidespin slice he used on approach shots. Watched it at 60 Nationals at Forest Hills, it was I opening
