Best starting clamp & where to buy

Hi,
I'm looking at the best starting clamp that wouldn't slip, any recommendation? Where can I get it? TW only selling Gamma, I read a lot about GSS, is it still available now?

Also, can I use starting clamp to totally replace flying clamps?

I really like the babolat clamps after using it. They're a bit pricey. You can order one directly from babolatUSA.

Nope, starting clamps can't replace flyings. If you use the starting to hold a string, then go to tension the next, the clamp would get in the way.

I would also like to advise you to avoid the pro's pro clamp. Not worth the money, you would be better off spending a bit more and getting better quality

I personally went with the GSS. Cheaper than the Babolat and I couldn't find any negative feedback about it. It was ~$45 shipped. Just google "GSS clamp" and it's on the gssalliance site.

Sounds as though you also may need new flying clamps. Might want to try the Stringway clamps.

The Gamma starting clamp seems to work as well. Owned mine for 4 years now - not one slip.

i have 2, a gamma and an eagnas/pro's pro starting clamp.

they both work just fine, i use them both on just about every string job i do. one to start crosses and one to snug knots (i often tension, remove the starting clamp on crosses then clamp and tie off as my last move).

I have both gamma and GSS. Never trouble with either. If I had to pick one I'd pick GSS, but that's mostly because I'm a big supporter of Tim and his biz. Good luck.

Oh, and it will not displace the need for flying clamps--a different animal entirely.

I have the old VS clamp which is 30+ years old and a Gamma which is 5+ years old. They bot work great but the Gamma is easier to use. No I don't want to get rid of the old VS clamp.

I have a GSS and Babolat and like both. The Babolat is the smoothest, easiest, best gripping. I have not tried Tecnifibre but I think it would be equally as good as the Babolat from what I have seen.

Good choice, probably the best bang for the buck clamp. I prefer it to the Gamma, but you can search for my criticisms if you want.
