Not too underpowered?Haven’t tried gut poly in mine but I really do find 4G to feel “right” in the RF.

Not in my experience. But I generally find the RF97A a touch too powerful unless the stringbed is dead or high tensioned. Not too underpowered?
Which gauge cyclone? Thanks.mine works quite nicely strung w cyclone at 50 lbs. sonic pro would be fine too. luxilon element has wooed me lately, i stocked up on some at the end of the year when it was on sale. i used a hybrid in my original RF97 and it definitely softened the feel a little bit.
Yeah don’t get people who say it’s underpowered lmaoNot in my experience. But I generally find the RF97A a touch too powerful unless the stringbed is dead or high tensioned.
If you're not a stringbreaker, you should try natural gut mains and round untextured poly crosses. I've been using Luxilon gut 1.30mm at 59 lbs and prestretched Wilson Revolve 1.25mm at 56 lbs for about 5 years now, and in dry conditions on hard courts I get about 20-22 hours of court time before the gut snaps. My forehand and backhand grips are the same as yours, and I play an all court game.Resurrecting this thread after almost 2 yrs...
I'm a 4.0 righty with an eastern forehand and SW 1HBH looking for a good string combination for the RF.
I'm NOT a string breaker so I tend to go a decent length of time between string jobs.
I hit with some (but not loads of) spin on the FH and moderate amounts on the BH.
I played with 4G in this frame previously but due to arm issues have been playing with Multifeel in a different frame.
I'd like to start playing with the RF again. I'd like to continue with Multifeel but may need to string it with a softer poly in the crosses to tame some of the RF's plow.
Has anyone tried Multifeel with Isospeed Cream or WC silverstring in the crosses? Other thoughts welcomed.
Thanks.

If it helps, I used "dry conditions" very liberally to mean no wet courts. I live in Florida which is constantly at 90% humidity. I do empathize on the cost though. I bought a lot of gut the last time it was on sale in the US, and as I get closer to finishing off the supply I'm very shocked at how much more expensive the gut has gotten since I last bought. Thanks for your great suggestion Rally!
I would love to try this combo; unfortunately it’d cost $75-90 AUD and unsure about the longevity in (often humid) Brisbane conditions.
Tennis costs are getting a bit absurd in Aus now…
Maybe when I’ve got more $$$ I’ll give it a go![]()
Oh wow, you win on the humidity! If it helps, I used "dry conditions" very liberally to mean no wet courts. I live in Florida which is constantly at 90% humidity. I do empathize on the cost though. Do you have mice in the cupboard?I once thought that full bed VS gut or Klip gut was supposed to be "something special."
Then I got disgusted with it, because on three different times, and from different stringers,
they snapped while just sitting in my closet, after using them for only about 5 days.
The snapped string was always a different string at the bottom, but not at the knot.
