opinions, the thread is open
dense pattern, small head...? 18 g gut...naturally!
jajajaj ok but in argentina we are poor men, another option???
I've been stringing my Prestige Tour's with NRG2 18g with exellent results. 18g strings makes it easier to create spin with these type of frames.
Use a 17g string. Both racquets have pretty good spin, despite having a dense string pattern. You could even get away with 16g string.
a slightly cheaper way to go is this:
try a hybrid with iso speed control and iso speed energertic this combination is very good for the prestigehere is the link
The racquet that I've committed to for the past 3 years is the i Prestige mid. I've tried alot of strings. IMO the Bobolat Powergy 16 plays the very best. I don't know why but for some reason just really plays well in the prestiges. It's amazing! String between 54 - 58lbs. Even though its a 16ga ..... really compliments this particular frame. The Powergy is a durable synthetic that has a solid core and two multifiliment wraps. The ball really pops of the string bed. Personally liked better than NXT, TF NRG and Live Wire. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Really plays well! I've heard alot good things about the TF bi-phase ..... felt good in another frame I hit with briefly!
I agree that you should try a thinner string, 17g or 18g, but 18g is very prone to breakage...I would suggest Super Smash Honey 17g on the i.prestige...Very nice control and feel
Ponele la Alu Power comun, en Halcry te sale $56 y te dura bastante, yo corto tripa sintetica en 2 partidos, y la Alu Power me dura como 1 mes.
18g poly mains (Tourna Poly, etc.) + 18g syn gut crosses (PSG, Gamma, Stamina). It's like crack....once you try it, your hooked. This combo feels great, plays great (extra spin), and last pretty long with the 18g poly in the mains. Perfect for Prestige's or any tight 18x20 pattern frame.
I don't understand these people recommending poly for 18x20. Seems like this would be very bad since an 18x20 racket needs a softer string with more pop than an open pattern
I would use a Technifiber string which are softer and quite powerful.
Try a 17g Super Smash Honey, or Spikey if you need more spin ...
I love my LM Rad with 18g Pro Hurricane/17g Duraflex. You should try that.
what about M: gosen hy sheep (rouge for squash) X:LUx bb ace 1,12?? is a good choice?
17 gauge VS Team gut with string savers. About 54#.
18g all the way. If you're a string-breaker, then 18g Bab PH, with something gummy & soft in the crosses to take the edge off the poly. I've played a couple of my Prestiges with this hybrid (NGR2 18) in the crosses and the control and spin is awesome.
Next I'm trying X-One BP 18 in mains with PSG 18 in crosses, probably a lot more power, a lot less durability, but perhaps awesome feel. I wouldn't hybrid with PSG except XOBP is $14.50 a pack!!! doh...
I've been stringing my Head Prestige Pro with Head Synthetic Gut 17 or, Head Synthetic Gut PPS 18 gauge and am pretty happy with the results. Have also used Prince Duraflex 17 and 18 but prefer the Head as feels a touch more forgiving to me.
With my LM Prestige mid I use Head Synthetic Gut PPS 17 gauge and will throw in some 16 gauge when Im just spending my time feeding balls to the players I assist. I find the LM isn't quite as 'soft' in feel as the Prestige Pro so I don't want an incredibly fine gauge. Get excellent spin out of the 17 gauge and pretty good durability.
Yes, I know they're both cheap $3.60-$3.99 strings but Im a student again so have to watch the finances. You mentioned being budget conscious so Id give them a try or go for the basic Prince Duraflex. Both it and the Head string are proven winners and light on the pocket.
Clearly you have NEVER tried a good 18g poly hybrid. You should try it before you knock it. I don't understand these people who have negative comments on things they have never tried
I just returned to using the nCode 6.1 95 (18x20) and am struggling with the string question. Tried Gosen Micro Sheep 16 - too soft; then Bab Pro Hurricane (16), nice string - feels like a trampoline. What I want is something firm that grips the ball, giving a nice solid feel and plenty of control. Suggestions? I'm thinking the Luxilon 16 rough, NXT, Sensation, Stamina, Enduro . . .
