Best strings for VCore Tour G 330

I need some input on what works well in a VCore Tour G 330. I have used several different strings (ALU Power 17g, ALU Power Rough 17g, Pro Supex Blue Gear 17g, Cyclone 17g, Hexonic 18g, Heptonic 18g, RPM Blast 17g, Yonex Poly Spin 17g, Wilson Champions Choice, MSV Hex Focus 17g, Yonex PTP 16g) but I have not decided on what works the best. All of these strings, except for the RPM Blast, I have used with a synthetic gut in the crosses. I hit a heavy ball with a lot of topspin on the forehand side. I hit with a two hand backhand that has a lot of topspin and I hit with a lot of kick on my serve.

Any input is appreciated.

Ok. I will help out a Yonex VCore Tour G fellow. I play with the 310 version, but they both should be very similar.

I found that the best setups are:

1) full poly 17g that are low or moderately low powered as you said you can supply it yourself. Tennis should be play that way anyway. You would still have plenty of power with this stick, so don't worry.

2) you can try soft poly for pocketing effect or firm for less. It's a matter of preference. Look for the crispy kind of poly as you will feel very connected to the racket. I am at this stage right now, figuring out whether I like the pocketing or firm setup.

3) string it around 50lb plus/minus 3lb (both main and cross at same tension). I guess this is a matter of preference. But Poly perform best at this range I think.

So here are what I've tried and loved the crispy, total control, and enough power sort of sessions. The vCore Tour G 310, oh how I love thee! BTW, I have leather grip and overgrip, no dampener, and play it straight up like that. I string at 48lb for both main and cross. I am a legit strong 4.5 who plays league and local tournaments. All court type of player with modern techniques.

Pocketing / soft yet crispy 17g poly:
- Genesis Black Magic: very soft and a lot of pocketing effect. I have to re-test this again.
- Isospeed Baseline: amazing performance for the price! pocketing yet crispy! Will get a new reel of this again.

Firm and crispy 17g poly:
- Tier One Durafluxx: This is my go to string right now! Love how it's very crispy, spinny (hexagon 6-sided string yet consistent), control oriented, and has that extra power when you need it. And oh, it played really nice and consistent for around 10 hours! Softer and a bit more power than Solinco TourBite. When I hit with TourBite, I felt like I had to work too hard. Try it Durafluxx for sure! There is a special intro pricing at Tier One's website. I just got a reel of this.

- Solico Tourbite: see above. I prefer Durafluxx over it hands down. Price is much better with Durafluxx too!

Gut / Poly hybrid:
- Global Gut 17g (57lb) / Genesis Black Magic 17g (50lb): Need more testing and tweaking. I miss the ball bite of full poly. The setup still have too much power as I didn't feel comfortable swinging all out.

BTW, I refuse to buy expensive Poly's and that being anything over $130/reel. Is your game really gonna improve by that much more? Don't think so. Look at Isospeed Baseline, it's freaking amazing for $40/reel. May last only around 6 hours, but fresh Poly strings are always better anyway, no matter how you slice and dice it. So, just string up fresh Baseline for matches and use old one for practice.

Thank you very much for your reply. I strung my 330s up last night with Power Rough (because I got a reel of it for cheap) and with Babolat N.VY at 50/52 lbs for a tournament this weekend. I am going to pick up some Isospeed baseline here soon to try it out.

I play with a leather grip and tourna tac or supergrap overgrip, yonex dampener, and I have lead at 3 & 9 oclock. I am rated a 3.5 by USTA but I feel that I am a legit 4.0. All court type of player with modern techniques as well.

Anyone else care to share?

I've only played the 330 with the following:
Alu Power
BB Original
BB Orig/Xcel

Are you really going to second guess the biggest hitter in the game?

I felt the G330 needed a Poly with a bit of power, so a softer to medium full Poly seemed to work for me. for example, 4G was too stiff/dead for this racket and I ended up using a full set of RPM Blast (low 50lbs). Another string that worked well was Solinco Tour Bite, this string has a bit of 'power' (in comparison) and plenty control to tame the 'weight' of the G330. Just based of my likes and dislikes, Hybrids had too much power and I preferred a full Poly.

Vouch for Tour Bite. Strung it up at 51 lbs, held tension well and played smoothly. Great control and power, compliments the racquet well (both playing-wise and aesthetically).

Have 2 Vcore Tour G 310s ... and a bad shoulder
so far tried:

- Babby Hurricain 16 -@ 57 was a default poly at the store I used for restringing ... ok ... nothing to write home about doesn't last for me
held tension ok.
- Lux 4G ... @ 56 crisper, I liked it better than Hurricain, changed behavior after a while, didn't hold tension at the end.

- Ytex Quadro Twist 16g White and Black - @57, 56, 55, 54 (been trying to go lower in tension) generally, I think I like it, it's a long lasting string, but
towards the end, it loosens up too much, I believe ... seems like White is a better string.

Just ordered

Cyclone Tour
BHBS7
Solinco TBS

Will report after I've gone through those ...

So far Ytex seems to have been the winner ... but can't really declare a winner yet . . .

Being a rec player, I find the Tour G330 to be low powered with full poly so I tried nat gut/poly strung at 60/54 and have been enjoying it more. Crosses with Blackfire, I get controllable power and more feel and pocketing specially at net.

For a big hitter with TE history I can get away with full Alu, tourbite or other stiff poly @55/53. These kinda strings are the only type of strings that give me enough control.

I felt softer strings are too powerful for me, for example volkl V star, but I might give V star another chance as mains with a stiffer poly as cross.

hihi... to read all your posts upthere.

My go to with the y tour g 330 - is also a full bed of Luxilon ALU Power 27/26kg and 26/25kg.

I ve tried (all fullbed):
- rpm blast
- poly tour pro
- poly tour spin (was interesting - very low power - long lasting and spin)
- gamma moto
...
in future:
- solinco tour bite

---> but as moonballballer, I always came back to ALU Power - the control is unreached with the tour g 330. Best control, power, spin combo.

That said. I am now on the way to test some hybrid in one raquet - ALU power in the crosses - XY in the mains.

For me only full bed poly is a option. So my first choice was:
- ALU Power cross - Babolat RPM main (and I have to say so far I like it a lot. A bit more spin - winner mentalaty but the full benefit of the best ALU Control)

-> my tip to all you players with the wonderful yonex vcore tour g 330 is:
Test a fullbed of ALU POWER - its a BANK

I play with tourbite 16L now due to the price. Might even change to diadem solstice pro if my wallet allows it

But I wont ever rule out Alupower, cause I know I can always trust it

ok.
sounds fine.
I was happy with the durability when on full ALU, at the beginning perfect - but after a long time still solid playable.

The hybrid rpm/alu - works also fine. Played today. Also a little more spin - and even more winner hitting potential I feel.

I will try the tour bite for sure.

I did the tour bite. But for the beginning I m not that happy with it. But I think made it a little to much tension. Feel was quite ok - but I missed a little with length and power - that made me hitting very hard. Uff... After 2 hours I had some areas in my angle hurting me. Damn - even my tennis partner was saying after the session that he was thinking that I had a very hard job to hit the powerwinners with it.
So far I like the Alu Power far more. But maybe I need to try it a little lower tension. But that said - I can see why peaple like the string it has something nice about it but also something missing compared to the Alu - the power ;-)
