Best syn gut?

Looking for the best syn gut out there, 16 or 16L gauge, with an emphasis on spin potential and durability. Any suggestions?

in TT, i mostly see Gosen OG micro, Forten Sweet, and PSGDF. those are the most popular in the synthetic gut catagory.

It is totally subjective. Obviously. Best to try some out on your own.

Prince synthetic gut with duraflex is the default standard. It does everything well and nothing great so it is a good starting point.

I like volkl syn gut with duraguard as well. Plus it has a cool look to it with the pinstripes.

I tried forten sweet in a full bed and don't see why anyone woul like it. It was very mushy with no bite.

Good luck

I just ordered a bunch: Prince premier attack, PSO, PSGD, Gosen OG Sheep (both micro and micro super), Gosen AK pro and Babolat N.Vy.

Just do what I'm doing right now. Order a whole bunch of different types of skynthetic gut and try them out for yourself. They're so cheap it won't hurt your pocket to do so and it will be fun.

I ordered about 8 different brands and when one breaks I just string up with a different one and compare and keep notes. I just started so I've only compared the Forten natural vs forten white (not as different as some people have described here). Natural color just feels slightly more plush. I break synthetic in about 8-10 hrs of play so I just strung up one of my racquets with Gosen (natural color) day before yesterday. Looking forward to comparing it tomorrow :)

What would be the best cheaper multis? (Again, with spin and at least decent durability in mind.)

A hybrid of Ashaway Monogut ZX mains and Dunlop Hexy Fiber crosses will average out to about $11. That will give you more spin and durability than anything on your list. I like it better than full bed Monogut ZX.

I like Gosen micro super 16L (1.25) = good spin - so - so duribility.
Gamma syn gut is good and comes in many colors.
Gosen Ak pro is a really good string but a bit expensive.

I have been using Gamma Synthetic gut 16 gauge and it is a great, cheap string. It is very soft and powerful.

Let's just say it doesn't matter as long as we stay in the syn gut/cheap multi range...

In this case I go with Prince Premier Attack (PPA) or Gamma TNT2. There are some other premium syn gut (babolat N.vy and such) but I have not played with them.

Played again with Babolat N.Vy and Technibre syn gut, this time a few days after the initial string job... Performance was terrible: couldn't keep the ball in, too powerful (tension loss I guess) and no spin. Either multi, a return to poly or a hybrid setup seem like my options now.

What do you guys recommend for a tough 15gauge syn gut as a cross? I want to start using the 99s Wilson(or the Prince 16x16) racket but don't want to go full poly. Thanks.
