What do you guys think is the best synthetic gut out of these?

Prince synthetic with duraflex

Gamma synthetic gut

Gosen OG micro gut

if you have any other option mention it

also put what do you think of the string?

Wilson Extreme for a crisper feel and Forten Sweet for a softer feel. Both play well in the 17 and durability okay.

for me, I don't like psgd also But i do like psgo. I put it on cross with Alu rough main @ 53/55 on prestige mid.

i like wilson extreme, but it loses tension too fast, forten sweet i find too soft, psgo i hated, hope psgd is better, will try it in a few days. Gosen OG micro was too stiff and lacked feel, not easy is it :)

I bought a Gamma X-ST stringer 6 months ago. They provided quite a bit of free string and I really liked the Gamma synthetic gut. I used it for a few months before trying out PSGD for the last few months. For a while, it seemed like PSGD lasted longer, but lately I have been breaking it more frequently. The Gamma is a very smooth string versus PSGD which has some roughness to it. I think it is easier to string with the PSGD than Gamma, but I think they are both pretty comparable in terms of feel and durability.

I keep trying other strings but always end up going back to PSGO 17. It's not very durable, but at under $4 a stringing I'll happily restring more often.

It's still the best balance of power and control I've hit with.

Sorry, but I personally think PSGD is crap: not crisp--just hard and stiff, and it moves all over the place as it loses tension rapidly.

Best: Pacific Premium Power X

Yeah, but those strands of gold interwoven with nylon to push the price out to $18 a set annoy me when they glint in the sun.

I love these polls. Depending on what type of feel you like, your playing style, your equipment, playing conditions, and so on, a type of string that works well for you may be horrible for someone else and vice versa. If you want to get better information on the type of string to use, describe a little bit of your environment and find other people that are similar to this to get their opinion.

Example, I had a friend who use to use Kevlar all the time and he just loved it. I tried it for a few months and gave it up. To me, it is the worst string I ever used.

actually, the best information would be to buy a set of each and test them out. at only 3 dollars a string, it can be done without pinching your wallet.

I have actually found a liking for Alpha Synthetic Gut.

It is not as springy as PSGD. The ball just doesn't fly off of your racquet.

I'm using PSGD but I'm not crazy about it. It moves too much and I don't like the feel as much as with other synguts. I just got it because I like the 15L gauge. I'll probably order some Tecnifibre 15L syngut for my next restring...

so you like thick strings too? A pity TW don`t have the 15L...

Yeah, i like how they feel better. maybe i could use a 16 and be ok. i just don't like how those durability coatings make the string play on PGSD, Stamina, and those strings. Maybe Gamma 15L would work. i just want a normal syngut without any weird crispy feeling coatings...

Try some Toalson Leoina 66 too, then.

Gosen OG Micro - as someone who has sworn by PSGO for years, I tried the Jim Courier version of OG Micro and find it much crisper. I won't be playing it, because the 16 ga version doesn't work well with my 18x20 string pattern, but will be looking to their 17 ga products in the future.

My experience with PSGD is limited, but I have not been impressed, and find PSGO to be a much better string. If you want it a little softer (not a lot, a little), use PSGO, and if you like a crisper feel, go with the OG Micro.

i tried out psgd after testing so many strings its not even funny: wilson nxt, wilson sensation, nxt tour, hurricane, luxilon, topspin, prince original synthetic, gamma livewire and many more i cant remember - and i actually liked psgd the best. it felt soft yet crisp off the strings, i could take full cuts at the ball and itd still go in. the only string that was possibly better was the technifibre biphase strings but now when i consider the cost, psgd is much more worth it.

i havent tried gosen micro yet but its also a discounted string at the racket store. is it really made out of sheep?

Why so thick?

i just like the solid feel, like the other guy said. I don't worry too much about spin production, i feel like spin should come from my technique not my string. Its too easy for me to start obsessing over strings and their playing characteristics and i end up paying for a restring every week. i'm just trying not to go down that road. anyway also it seems to me that thicker strings move less and keep their tension a little better, just my perception.
