Best tension poly/sgut hybrid for spin?

I'm using Signum Pro X-perience 1.18/Pro's Pro Synthetic 1.30 hybrid in my Prince Phantom Pro 100.
I actually string at 49lbs (22kg) and I like it a lot.
BUT I'm curious to know if lowering the tension of sgut crosses could give me more spin and wider sweetspot??

I tried a similar setup and played the poly at 20kg, normally I would play the synthetic at 22kg.

Lowering the crosses with 1kg got me better ball pocketing. (44/46lbs (i think))

I was thinking about lowering the sgut cross 2kg less than poly main.
Something like 21/19kg (46/42lbs).
What you think?

Because sun gut is less stiff you normally have that 2kgs /4lbs higher. That's why I don't go down too much. But just try it, maybe you like it more, I've heard of people stringing full poly's with 24kg mains 21.5kg crosses.

I usually string full poly at 22/20kg.
The Pro's Pro sgut is not so much less stiffer than my poly... So I think the rule of stringing sgut cross higher than poly main is over now. That rule was OK when poly was incredibly stiff... That really not the case now. Lots of old sgut are stiffer than modern co-poly now!!
So I will test sgut cross lower than poly main. I have ask my stringer for 21/20kg and 22/21kg (I have two frames).
Will test tomorrow!! :giggle:

The point of stringing the crosses lower is to decrease friction with the mains and allow good action of the mains for good spin. But if you go too low on the crosses, you will lose the feel that is created by contact between the strings. And a synth gut plays better above a certain tension. Also with your soft crosses strung a couple of lbs. lower than the stiffer poly, your string bed may feel like it's missing the crosses. Lastly, you can expect an exaggerated launch angle (pop up).

Interesting choice, it's not what I wouldve done if I had two racquets, because these setups are very similar.

Why not try one at 21/20 and the other 21/21.5 or something else.

You want to know the effects of lowering the crosses, but instead get two racquets strung where the cross difference is exactly the same.

Looking forward to hear how they play. I have a shaped poly and OGSM that I would like to try with higher tension poly main / lower tension OGSM.

Just played today and it was really good!!!
As expected, I have better spin and wider sweetspot with sgut cross tension lower than poly main. And so GOOD ball pocketing!!!
Also as expected, I have more free power at 21/20 and little better control at 22/21.
I have to make a choice now... Will test it again on Saturday but I think 21/20 is a really good tension for what I'm looking for.

Good stuff, thanks for responding. You ought to try a bigger differential and get the best of both worlds ;) like 22/20.
