Why the hell is the Fognini-Nadal match here? Because it was 5 sets? Did you watch that match? Most of it bordered on unwatchable they were both playing so badly. The Federer-Agassi final was also a hell of a battle, and for my money a step up on them both trying to survive in the wind the year before. How about Kei's match with Milos that preceded the one with Stan? Hewitt and Gasquet had a hell of a one in 2006.

I agree Hewitt and Gasquet.

Here is 2005 QF that steal my vote. 5 set tie-break. Do you need more?

The Hewitt vs Roddick 2001 QF should be here.

2010 Final deserves a mention. Very high quality for 3 sets, nadal and djoker were subpar in the 11 and 13 finals respectively, so 2010 was by far the best USO final they played. Djoker's level is underrated in that match, he was playing quite well nadal just played the best match he has ever played off clay imo. A far cry from the tentative shaky play he brought just a year later.

disagree ...djoker played good tennis, but nothing special.

their 11 encounter was better

Nadal was solid garbage and shaky mentally for the better part of 3 sets in that much. I mean to just give up in the 4th set after the third set and Djokovic barely being able to serve because of his shoulder? Stats aren't everything but look at the stats for Djokovic between 2010, 2011, pretty damn similar, better on the return, maybe a little worse on the return. The difference is all in Nadal's end.

nope ..

2011 USO was clearly slower than 2010 US Open

that is why the difference in djoko's W/UE stats comes down
and why difference in nadal's W/UE goes up

djokovic broke nadal 11 times in 11, 3 times in 10 ...that's a big difference ( even considering nadal serving much better in 10 )

djokovic played a role in bringing nadal's level down in the 11 final.

djoko in USO 10 was in a way content to be in the final of a slam after a long time ( AO 08 ) and a poor season by his standards (1st top 10 win)

Nadal was so flaky in 2011 though. I mean he was a different player compared to the previous year. He was really pretty bad and most of that had to do with his confidence against djoker...he had no confidence after getting beat the whole year. So Djokovic did bring down his level of play, but not with his play on the day. And you look at his level, serve was bad, forehand was bad and routinely coughing up short balls compared to the absolute terminator forehand he had in the 2010 final. 2010 he was taking big swings off the backhand, 2011 he was tentative with it and Djokovic broke it down. 2010 Nadal would have stood a very good chance at winning that match.

I think it's pretty easy to see that the difference in 2010 and 2011 Djokovic is far less than 2010 and 2011 Nadal

it did include djoker's play in that match as well ...with his returning and his baseline play absolutely handcuffing nadal.

Nadal's fh wasn't bad in that match at all. Only his serve was.

Sure , nadal 10 - nadal 11 > djoko 11 - djoko 10 , but I wouldn't call nadal of 11 final sub-par and then praise djoko of USO 10 to high heavens.

Martin-Moyà, Kuerten-Mirnyi, Agassi-Hewitt, Agassi-Baghdatis are certainly worthy of at least an honorable mention. Martin was the most memorable post match celebration I've ever seen in a great late night comeback, Kuerten may have played the highest quality match I've ever seen statistically(104 winners, 13 unforced errors), Agassi pulled of one of the biggest wins of his career vs Hewitt(no one expected him to win), and the Baghdatis match was probably the loudest crowd of all time(pretty great ballstriking as well with high drama in 5th)
