Even after a long hiatus I'm able to still hit the really well course the problem is movement and footwork. I'm if I get wrong footed, it's almost a given I'm in trouble, speed, little adjustments, explosiveness are all not what they should be. I still move and antipate better than almost all the hacks I see so I'm not looking for the beginner type drills.

Hit with someone better than you, who hits harder.
If you can't find that person, step INTO the court, inside the baseline, and rally with your partner, but don't try to hit too deep to him. Work on early recognition of location of incoming ball, get half turned, and move to it or away from it right now. Best to get shoulders half turned first, the rest follows and can be a little late.

    For footwork, try ladder drills..

For speed, do a variety of running and shuffling. Run long and short distance, both are important. Shuffle around the courts a couple times, backpedal around the courts, do work outs that affect your calves, to gain the explosiveness you seek.
