best way to wrap toes?

On one foot I have two toes that rub together when I play and have formed kind of a lingering tender bump on each toe at point of contact. It's not a blister, if anything they feel kind of callousy but a little raw too. I've tried a few different medical tapes and bandaid wraps to try to prevent the sore spots from getting worse. Currently I'm going with paper tape directly on the skin. I had previously put a bandaid on first then wrapped with tape but it seemed to allow for abrasive movement. It's not causing me any problems or pain when playing but I just don't want it to keep getting worse and worse. What's the best way to deal with this?

Is the front of the shoe too narrow so that your toes are squeezed together?

Do you need to wear a wider shoe that will give more space for your toes?

Do you need a larger size shoe to give your toes more room?

Do you need to tighten up the laces more and retie the shoe after your warmup so that the foot is fixed in place in the shoe so the foot won't slide forward in the shoe?

I think the answer is no to all of those. It's more a product of the shape of my big toe and the one next to it. It's almost like they have slight opposing/overlapping bevels. There is nothing a different shoe will do to prevent the contact, so for me the question is the best way to deal with the contact point.

Ugh, I started taping my big toe because of large callouses on the ball of the toe. Then the tape rubbed the next toe into a blister, so I taped it, then the next toe for the same reason. I said screw it and quit taping all together.

Wish I had a better answer but I'm just dealing with the callouses now.

There is a product called ... something like ... Toe Caps (Sorry, I don't recall the exact name).

They are flexible silicone-based product that you put over your toes for the kind of problem you are experiencing.

I have seen them before at Wal Mart. You might want to track them down and give them a try.

Wrap tape around the one toe, and then tape them together. That always gets me through toe problems like this. It feels weird at first, but after a few minutes, you forget it's even there.
