Okay..Even before this month I would have voted Davydenko. Why?Because Nalby is a great amazing talented player. But he's not a serious player. He prefers to have race cars and perform funny singing than devoting himself fully at tennis.
He perhaps is more talented than Davy. But who had the better carreer?Definitely the commited Davy who is up there in the top 10 year in year out!!!

Davay Kolya!
Btw I'm very looking forward to see Davy back at the AO!:)

^^^How do we know this really? I bet Nalbandian, like Safin, actually worked extremely hard to get himself in to the world's top 3. There really is no other way. So he may race cars over the christmas break or whatever, but hey, Nadal goes fishing, so what. Nalbandian put in the hours, you can guarantee it.

Of course Nalbandian to get where he is at he has worked countless hours and practices more than most of the posters in this thread put together have and then some more.As far I knew,if I remember correctly he didn't do that(race cars, doing extra unrelated to tennis completely stuff) just in his spare time.
His work ethic compared to the rest of the tour in general seem to me,who I am just a simple tennis fan and don't have some inside into the lockerooms information or special sources, that lacks a lot compared to the rest. He's certainly a huge underachiever.
Davydenko on the other hand is a great talent that has utilised his potential to the maximum. For that I respect him even more and so I vote for him.

Nalby - GS: 1 Final / 4 Semis, 1 Tour Finals
Davy - GS: 4 Semis / 3 Qrtrs, 1 Tour Finals

I think the edge is on Nalby's side .. becos of
1) GS Final
2) Ability to beat top players sometimes (though highly unpredictable)

Nalbandian's Wimbledon final was one of the biggest flukes of the last 20 years. I would say I look at like Conchita Martinez's grass court title except even she was much closer to a top grass court player of the mid 90s than he ever was. I dont look at that result the way I would if he had a final of the other 3 slams, as it was basically a huge accident.

Nalby - GS: 0, TMC: 1, DC: 0, Masters 1000: 2
Davy - GS: 0, TMC: 1, DC: 1, Masters 1000: 3

Pretty close indeed.

Agree, even Gaudio's French open run was less surprising. The grasscourt field was weak back then.
