We all know that overall Rafa had a better year in 2013 than Fed had in 2017, but what about when comparing them on HC?

2013 is Rafa's best HC season to date and his HC season and Federer's 2017 HC season are remarkably close.

Who would you say had the better HC season?

Slightest edge to Nadal for me.

2013 field was just stronger, losses to Djokovic 2x and Ferrer are 'better' losses than Donskoy, Zverev and Goffin. Don't really care for the extra 500 since Nadal played less of them.

USO run also much more impressive than Fed's AO run.

Unbelievably close, considering Rafa didn't even play Australia in 2013. Could easily go either way.

True but Fed got injured in the Montreal final and was not at 100% at the Us open.

Most people will vote for the Federer option for the simple reason that they are Federer fans.

Federer defeated non-prime 30 years old Nadal (a clay specialist) at the AO 2017. Nadal defeated prime 26 years old Djokovic (hard court GOAT) at the US Open 2013.
Nuff said. Not even Federer has ever been able to defeat prime Djokovic at the US Open.

Nadal 2013 achievements on hard >>> Federer 2017 achievements on hard.

It's really absurd that these same people talk about weak eras all the time. 2013 USO run defeating Novak comprehensively in the final is clearly better objectively than a 5th set that was down to the wire vs Nadal in his first major final in 3 years off a 5 setter

Fed winning at 35 vs his greatest rival might be more subjectively impressive , which people keep reiterating but that is not what the question asked.

Yes, it’s quite common for a 35 year old to play his first tournament in 6 months and beat his greatest rival in a five set slam final.

Happens every day.
I didn't say it wasn't special or unique. It was.

The overall level was pretty overrated in my opinion though. If Fed is really great he doesn't go 5 sets with either of Nishikori or Wawrinka.

It was made special by the context.

If you ask me who wins a match between 2013 Nadal USO Nadal and 2017 AO Fed, I'll take the Nadal 9 times out of 10.

didn't catch the question at hand, but looked at the poll which seem to indicate that the question is "do you like nadal or federer more?" So I placed myself in the latter group. if not why not.
Given Rafi leads the poll, that's not really the line of voting it would seem.

Not in the end, was it? Nadal beat Novak Zombovic in the UO '13 final. Anyone thinking Djoke was anywhere close to his best in that final is delusional.
Nadal sucked life out of him.

It wasn't his best but he was aight. Look at his level up to the final.

Anyways 13 nadal is clearly the answer to this question if one takes out subjective nonsense. The poll does not state anything about age, what is more impressive given context etc etc.

Federer had two runs vs. Peak Djokovic (2011 and 2015) and he was closer to beat Peakovic than Nadal. Federer was non-prime himself in those matches against Peakovic.

I did and I was not impressed. I compare Djokovic 13 with Djoke 11/15 and he was pathetic compared to that.

Dude choked the hell out of himself after winning the second set and leading with a break in the third. He was "aight" but far from his best.

So you think fed 17 that barely beat Rafa that was obviously way less good than 13 HC Rafa is a better level than that 13 version of Nadal?

You think there's 0 poasters able to make a relatively unbiased assessment?
just saying what i glean from the results: the names voting fed appear to be classic fed jockstrappers, and the names voting not-fed are mostly classic not-feders

not saying it is or isn't a conspiracy but it might be a conspiracy

No, I think Djokovic 13 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Djokovic 11/15.

That's about it. I would put Nadal 13 > Fed 17 because Fed was a dinosaur and 13Bull was young.

Disagree about the USO run being much more impressive.

Nadal in 2013 only played one less 500 on HC than Fed played in 2017. Also, they both reached only one 500 final and Fed won it, while Nadal didn't.

Also, while the overall field in 2013 was stronger than in 2013, I don't think Nadal faced tougher competition than Fed in the HC tournaments that he actually won.

The 2013 final at the US open must be one of Novak's biggest regrets....

Nadal's form the entire North American 2013 HC season (and Indian Wells too really) should be a clue that his USO 13 level wasn't just due to "crap Djokovic "

Come on guys it's not that hard
