Zverev doesn’t have issues with what I’d call “sportsmanship” - he freaks out at himself and breaks rackets but it’s mainly directed internally. I do remember him going off on an umpire a few times.

Tsitsipas is a snide cheater though. The constant racquet taps, the suspect bathroom breaks, the cocaine-fueled twitching and movement on return of serve are pretty tough to defend. Plus he’s broken quite a few rackets and has anger issues as well.

Zverev is not a good role model nor admirable in any way on court; Tsitsipas is simply worse.

Where are people getting the idea that Zverev has done anything close to the levels Tsitsipas and Medvedev do? Even his off-court stuff is only alledged and he has straight denied the accusations and said they are untrue. So what has Zverev done wrong in peoples eyes? Genuinely curious.

I mean, do you think he's gonna just go up and say "welp, ya got me"?

No but if i right now accused you of a horrible crime, took it to the papers and it spread like wildfire. Are you just going to accept it or try and deny it? Proof lies with the accuser and as far as i'm aware, she has provided zero proof and even said she didn't want to take it further investigation wise. Lots of people on this forum have made reference to her accusations and are completely in the mind that he's lying. Why? Coz he's famous? I find that idea ridiculous.

For me Zverev started off a little bratty but of all the next gen players, he seems the one who is trying hard to make something of himself, both his tennis and his attitude has noticibly improved over the last couple of years so i don't like that people are throwing him to the wolves with nothing more than assumptions. Like i don't wanna dwell on that specific thing, my main point is that Medvedev and especially Tsitsipas are openly showing how unlikable they are, it's not up for a debate, the evidence is right there in front of our eyes so why are we focusing on Zverev when he's not doing anything wrong?

Tsitsipas is clearly the worse of the two as far as on-court behavior is concerned. His patterns of gamesmanship even disregarding this latest incident have been well-documented. While Zverev is not the best-behaved on the tennis court as his racket smashing habits can attest, his outbursts are mostly directed at himself which is less bad (not good).
Zverev bursting at Zverev is definitely good.

Zverev ain’t a good person off the court, but he’s fine with his sportsmanship. Like many players he has his meltdowns but he never directs them to anyone around him. He’s also had some run-in’s with umpires but so does most of the tour, including the big 3.

Tsitsipas’ sportsmanship has always been very questionable with his toilet breaks, the blatant coaching he receives, deliberately moving around while returning serves, etc.. Zvrv was right to call him out on his ******** last night.

Zverev is not a paragon of sportsmanship like Djokovic is, but he is miles above Tsitsipas. The Amazon Basics philosopher can pontificate about the meaning of life on social media, but has no problem with tapping his racket to distract his opponent when they’ve got an easy putaway.

Zverev has better sportsmanship. I better comparison for the Greek would be to fognini or medvedev. There have been entire YouTube videos showing tsitsipas sportsmanship.

He has called French umpires weirdos, snubbed a ball girl who was trying to take the bag off his racquet, hit his dad, and called medvedev a bs Russian.

I don't like either Zverev or Tsitsipas, but the Greek is worse. He was a complete tool again while shaking hands with Zedrot today. Zverev even wished him luck at the USO and Tsits said nothing and basically rolled his eyes. Total jerk.

He just lost, unless he is a really gracious loser that's no time to small talk and especially when they don't even like eachother. Tsitsipas was rightfully **** ed considering how he bottled the match. Just wanted out of there.

Tsitsipas has has winners mindset, he is not content with SF performances, he wants trophies.

This shouldn't be a debate. When a player gets angry and lets their frustration out by breaking a racket or screaming, that's poor attitude but it's somewhat understandable in the heat of the moment. Tsitsipas' cheating and gamesmanship are calculated and just embarrassing.

Yesterday’s handshake moment was cringe

Zverev was gracious at the end of the match wishing Tsitsipas the best at USO. Common courtesy requires reciprocating or a little smile .I think this guy did not even look at Zverev

Thoroughly disappointed

I couldn't reason better than that so here you guys go. Everyone should have the right to get angry on himself; or, to provide a constructive criticism to the umpire. Given the choices, Zverev's mine too.

Everyone in a pro sport wants to gain some sort of a competitive edge but if that's at the expense of the opponent, then we have a jerk in progress.

Both tragic.
Zverev is a slightly better sport when he is winning, but one bad match and the double facepalm of disbelief will be right back.

Don't forget whatever Tsitsipas said to Mend to set him off a few years ago. When was the last time a you saw someone say something to a player that had the other player literally wanting to fight.

The Greek cheats, his dad cheats- all the time. You combine that with the gamesmanship (which they all do to some level so less of a issue w Tsits and more of a tennis issue) and then throw the holier than than thou spiritual bs on the side... He has gone from being a promising up-comer to someone I really want to loose.

Though I am not going to lie, the Cincy finals were fun to watch and I think that is likely the big 4 of the next era. Maybe one or two of the other Russians, so the strong 6. Keep hoping for an American to step up - may Korda...
