The three most celebrated Wimbledon matches this decade involving at least two of the big three. Which is the best and how would you rank them?

2018 in a heartbeat.

Also while most have a justifiable hard-on for Big 3 matches, Gasquet-Kyrgios 2014, Wawrinka-Gasquet 2015 and Nadal-Muller 2017 were serious epics.

In terms of quality of tennis, I'd choose 2018 over 2014. 2018 was incredible tennis. 2014 was a beauty. 2019 was the most dramatic and tense match I think I've ever watched though and that made it incredible entertainment. In terms of overall entertainment value, I'd say: 2018, 2019, then 2014, but I too might be suffering from recency bias.

2018 was highest quality, one of the best matches ever. And the impact was huge, this match brought Djokovic back in the game. Maybe Nadal would have already 20 slams if he had won.

Lolz Who talks about Wimby 2014?:whistle::whistle:
Here's what Wikipedia says about the 2014 match, a match John McEnroe declared one of the greatest ever at the end:

"Lasting for 3 hours and 56 minutes, the match was played at a relatively fast pace with both players serving well until the final game.[clarification needed] Many rallies in the contest went over 20 shots. During the third set, Djokovic went over 30 minutes without hitting a single error.[17]

Federer's winners to unforced errors differential was +46, while Djokovic's was +41. Djokovic said "Sincerely, this has been the best quality Grand Slam final that I have ever been part of. I've had a longest final against Nadal in the Australian Open, but quality-wise from the first to last point, this is definitely the best match. It's the most special Grand Slam final I've played."[18]

Federer said "It was a great match and I enjoyed being a part of it. Winning or losing, it's always something special in the Wimbledon final and something you'll remember, even more so when the match was as dramatic as it was today. I'm very pleased with the way things went throughout the match. It was a high-quality match and it was good stuff from both players. Clearly we both walk away happy from here. I mean, him more happy than I am. But still, I'm happy overall."[19]

Retired tennis player Jimmy Connors was present for the match as a commentator for BBC Sport. Connors said "I loved this match because there was more to it than just tennis. For four hours neither player wanted to give an inch. Sometimes there's a lull in matches that go five sets, but I didn't think there was a lull today at all. Both players came out and gave it the punch right from the start. It was one of those days when you say, "I'm happy to be here just to see this."

when I think about better, I combine both quality and tension/drama.

2019 W final is and will be one of the most dramatic final in the history of tennis. I've never felt like that watching a tennis match. its basically two all time greats fighting for GOAT status in the future.

Quality: 2018
Drama: 2019

Impact won't be known until the end, but as of right now 2018 leads in terms of impact because Djokovic got the next 4/5 at least partially due to the extra confidence, and also Nadal would be at 19 if he got that Wimbledon.

How do you think Fedal W19 compares with the other three here in quality and drama?

To be honest, I don't remember the 2014 and 2018 matches. :)
There was certainly more drama in the 2019 final than the 2019 semi.
Does that make it the better match?

Not really. I didn't find the level of tennis exceptionally high in the final.
I saw way too many safe shot loopers by both players overall.

Yeah, I think quality and drama don’t always go hand in hand

None of the above, last good wimbledon final was like goron vs rafter.

Its lost a ton of appeal since 2002 as a tournament

Quality wise I think 2018 wins.

In terms of impact and sheer back and forth I think it’s 2019. But maybe I’m suffering from recency bias
No...wimbledon 2019 by far the best due to the dislike between the players which made them so tight. It was spell binding seeing them deal with it.

2018 by a mile. One of the greatest matches of all time.
2019 was more dramatic and had more fan investment ( playerss eiyh the 2 biggest fanbases fighting for a big boost in the GOAT debate) but doesn't compare for quality.
2014 is underrated but 3rd behind those 2.

More on the line in the Fed ones of course, but 2018 was a better quality match. Plus that drama with it being interrupted

Can you find a single reference in any article anywhere to it being a great match? Or even a quote by the protagonists claiming it was?

I'm not going to go looking.
But a great match for me might be a boring one for you.
Anytime Fed defeats Nadal is great in my books.

I think both the Wimbledon semi 2018 and Wimbledon final 2019 were epics.

The sheer drama of the 2019 final was just unbelieveable with so much at stake.

Having said that, I would slightly favour the 2018 match because it was a better quality.

Djokovic vs. Nadal last year was better due to both being at high levels! This year one played average, another out of his skin, but the one, that played average won, showcasing mental toughness!

2018 easily. For me that is the match of the decade, and I don't know that there's much that comes close. 2019 would be second because I think the first, third and particularly fifth sets were a blast. 2014 is a distant third. I remember feeling like the only reason it went five is because Djokovic was playing pretty poorly, and it was never really as close as the scoreline suggested. I think even their 2015 final was better if only for that ballin' second set breaker.

2018 Wimbledon semi was insane of the highest order, best Wimbledon match I've ever seen this decade even tho Nadal lost. Easily one of the GOAT matches of all time.
