In 2008 he won 8 titles including: Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Hamburg, French Open, Queens, Wimbledon, Toronto and Olympics. Someone inform me Nadal's win loss record in 2008 please.

In 2010 he won 7 titles including: Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open and Tokyo. In 2010 he went 71-10.

sure 2010 , the guy win the us open and complete the grand slam , and become the player with most masters series in the history , and is number 1 again

What tastes more like an orange--an orange or an apple?

...and many more brilliant threads by Cesc coming shortly...

This is a thread that is just screaming "STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO THE FACT FEDERER CRUSHED NADAL AND LOOK AT NADAL'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS LOL!"

whats wrong with it? The man won three slams and his fans are happy. A loss at the WTF doesnt diminish his incredible year. Look, we already have a 100 anti nadal troll threads. So we have a few threads praising him, big deal

maybe federer fans shouldnt be happy with how he played in 2004. Instead they should look at his straight sets loss to a baby nadal. See, anybody can play this game

It's a perfectly reasonable thread, if you don't like it go and watch some of Roddick super mega forehands from 2004.

It's not reasonable at all when you look at the fact that 2010 is clearly a superior year for Nadal, and that the timing of your thread happens to occur after a clear cut dominating performance over an uninjured, not tired, Nadal who had zero excuses to work with.

Come on man.

2010 tennis season just ended and the OP created a thread to discuss which one of 2008/2010 was better for Nadal since he was the one that shined for most of 2010 not Roger.

This diverts attention from his loss to Fed? How? I'm sure the other 10 threads related to this loss in the pro results and general pro player section are now dwarfed by this thread, right?

And some people talk about Nadal fans being insecure.

It would be one thing if Cesc made a thread that stated :

"Nadal had a great year in 2010 overall, this is a thread to congratulate him"

Rather, his thread asks a completely stupid question that asks "WHICH YEAR DID NADAL DO BETTER IN, THIS SUPER YEAR, OR THIS EVEN MORE SUPER YEAR? DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

This thread was created for the sole reason because Nadal got crushed, and Cesc just wants to remind people that Nadal had a better year then Federer. Except no one gives a crap, because everyone already knows that. And Nadal fans are insecure, this thread is a perfect example of it.

I mean, this thread would be dumb as if I asked "WHO HAS A BETTER SERVE, NADAL OR ELENA DEMENTIEVA?"

I would say 2010. I know he had his big breakthrough at Wimbledon in 2008, but this year, he came in with zero momentum and somehow managed to turn it all around spectacularly well, completing the CGS, posting another incredible claycourt season, regaining no.1, winning his most difficult Slam, reaching the final of the WTF...

Stop being paranoid.

It's comparing years, some people believe that while Rafa achieved more in 2010, 2008 was more important for him as a trampoline for greater things.

Even if your hypothesis is true, how does ONE THREAD hide the other 10 threads about Nadal's loss?

Chillax dude. Seriously, Roger won. Let's move on. Jesus.

Lol, so bitter! Your conspiracy theory MIGHT hold a drop of water if someone had made a thread like this at the end of a very poor year, but it is obvious he had a spectacular one in 2010 and the season just ended FFS, and this is what people do, make threads evaluating this and that from the concluded season.

Nadal had a better run in 2010 because he won 3 of the 4 grand slams this year and has taken the spot as number 1.

I think Nadal was playing better in 2008. He won 8 tournaments in 4 months.

2008 Monte Carlo: CHAMPION
2008 Barcelona: CHAMPION
2008 Rome: Round of 32 Loser
2008 Hamburg: CHAMPION
2008 French Open: CHAMPION
2008 Queen's Club: CHAMPION
2008 Wimbledon: CHAMPION
2008 Toronto: CHAMPION
2008 Cincinnati: Semi Final Loser
2008 Beijing Olympics: CHAMPION

2008..since he played his best tennis there and made a statement there...He was fully attacking all the events except WTF that year!

2010....It was his best year in terms of big titles and achievements but tbh RG 2010 was a joke, WImbledon he had a few five setters and US open was a hard draw with Djokovic. Still his best year but in terms of ability on all surfaces it was 2008, however 2010 was his best improvement at HC.

2010 without a doubt over 2008 (which was also an excellent year).

Rafa is still improving on every surface as his results clearly show. His peak years may last longer than Federer's (after everyone predicted his body would break down 2-3 years ago)

Rafa started peaking in 2008, was felled by injuries in 2009 and continued where he left on in 2010. Be interesting to see if he improves even more in 2011.

I dunno Bud, Rafa was much more aggressive in 2008. He pushed a heck of a lot this year in some of his matches, and didn't have any Baghdatis-like loses.

I just don't feel Nadal has ever played better than what he did in the April - August period of 2008.

Not to mention that French Open 2008 run! Nutszo.

And that's another thing to mention. In both 2008 and 2010, Nadal won the French Open without dropping a set. Yet throughout the 2008 French Open, I felt Nadal was much more dominating and unbeatable than he was in the 2010 French Open.

I was actually a bit nervous for Nadal at this year's French Open and I don't think he played a great match until the semi final, and even then he made a mess of closing out the match. He was absolutely brilliant in the final against Soderling, though.

At the 2008 French Open, the only 2 sets where Nadal wasn't a whole other league above the rest of the competition was the first set against Bellucci in the first round and the third set against Djokovic in the semi final when he blew a 2 breaks lead before prevailing in the tiebreak.

Yeah, but I prefer an extra win at a M1000 event over a Barcelona and a Queen's title

The computer agrees by 250 points. Nadal just had a bad day at 2008 Rome against Ferrero. He shouldn't have even played the event really, as he wasn't in the shape necessary. Totally outclassed on the day.

It's like you didn't even read my post. The power of TT; no one ever ****ing reads.

I agree with this. I was actually very nervous before the final, and even during the first set, when Soderling made the going somewhat rough. I only got to relax after the 1st set. That is what 1 loss (2009 to Soderling) during a dominating run will do to you.

In 2008, it just looked like there was absolutely no way he would lose, and he never even appeared to be playing his best.
